This is the MAC News for Wednesday, January 23rd.
The list has been tabulated and the results are in! We are STILL in need of the following volunteers for the Hogan Meet February 2 and 3: For Saturday morning - 7 timers, 3 lane organizers and computer help for both the Colorado and Meet Manager; Saturday afternoon - 1 timer, 1 adult for the clerk of course, Colorado computer help; Sunday morning - 1 concession volunteer, 2 ribbon writers, 1 adult for the clerk of course, 2 people to pick up time cards; Sunday afternoon - 5 timers, 1 concession volunteer, computer help for both the Colorado and Meet Manager, 1 ribbon writer, 1 adult for the clerk of course, 3 lane organizers, and 2 people to pick up time cards. In addition, we need volunteers to help with clean-up once the meet is over. IF THE EXISITNG SLOTS FOR A JOB ARE FILLED, PLEASE DO NOT ADD A SLOT FOR YOUR NAME! WE NEED TO FILL THE EMPTY POSITIONS! Also, please be aware, the meet is scheduled to be completed by 4:30 on Sunday afternoon - plenty of time to get to your Super Bowl party! Phone calls will be made soon to those families who have not yet volunteered. Please help cut down on the number of calls we need to make by signing up today!
In addition, there is a sign-up sheet for concession donations posted on the bulletin board outside the locker rooms in the bubble. Anything that is donated will not need to be purchased and will increase our profits. Sign up today! Donations may be dropped off to either Terri Carder or Jenny Beiter in the indoor pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays or to Helene Williams most other days in the bubble.
MAC is holding a cover design contest for the meet program. All swimmers are invited to participate. Please be sure your cover design includes your name and place all entries in the Hyrkas folder no later than 6:00 pm Friday.
Don't forget to be working on procuring an ad, either your own or from a local business, for the program as well. You may even place an ad cheering on your swimmer! A copy of the ad form may be found here (www.macswim.net/files/fundraising_letterhead1.doc). These ads are also due to the Hyrkas folder by 6:00 pm on Friday.
If you are interested in becoming a Maryland certified official or just learning about what is involved, our team will be hosting a clinic for entry level officials at the meet on Saturday. The clinic will take place in the cafeteria beginning at noon and will run for about an hour. Many of our experienced officials are the parents of older swimmers and we need to begin "restocking" the ranks. Please consider giving it a try!
The practice schedule for today is normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30 and Age Group I from 6:00-7:45 all in the bubble. There is no practice today for Senior White, Senior Prep, Age Group II, Novice or Masters.
