January 22, 2008
This is the MAC New for Tuesday, January 22nd.
Calling ALL volunteers! We are still in need of volunteers for the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini Meet that we host on February 2nd and 3rd. This is our biggest fund-raiser of the year and requires EVERYONE'S help to make it successful. If you have already volunteered, we thank you! If you haven't, please find an empty slot on the sign-up sheet posted outside the locker rooms in the bubble and put your name there today. In particular, we are in desparate need of computer help, either for Meet Manager or the Colorado used to run the timing system. If you have experience in either of these systems (maybe from summer league or high school), please consider volunteering to fill a slot. If you don't have experience, but are willing to learn, training will be provided. Remember, if your family absolutely cannot attend the meet, it is your responsiblity to make arrangements with the meet director (Fred Manning - email@example.com) to help with a job prior to or at the conclusion of the meet.
In addition, there is a sign-up sheet for concessions donations posted on the same bulletin board. Anything that is donated will not need to be purchased and will increase our profits. Sign up today! Donations may be dropped off to either Terri Carder or Jenny Beiter in the indoor pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays or to Helene Williams most other days in the bubble.
MAC is holding a cover design contest for the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini Meet program. All swimmers are invited to participate. Please be sure your cover design includes your name and place all entries in the Hyrkas folder no later than 6:00 pm Friday.
Don't forget to be working on procuring an ad, either your own or from a local business, for the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini Meet program. A copy of the ad form may be found here (www.macswim.net/files/fundraising_letterhead1.doc). Please contact Renee Hyrkas, firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
If you are interested in becoming a Maryland certified official or just learning about what is involved, our team will be hosting a clinic for entry level officials at the Robert Hogan Mini-Meet at Frederick High on Saturday, February 2nd. The clinic will take place in the cafeteria beginning at noon and will run for about 1 hour.
IMPORTANT REMINDER about parking at Hood. Classes resume today and we are no longer permitted to park on campus!
