January 21, 2008
This is the MAC News for Monday, January 21st.
Congratulations to everyone who competed this weekend in the MSC Winter Invitational. As always, complete results will be posted here once they are available.
Don't forget, there were some practice schedule changes for today due to the Martin Luther King holiday. At this point, Senior White is finished for the day. Age Groups I and II will train together in the bubble from 10:00-12:00 and Senior Red and Black will return to the bubble this afternoon for practice from 4:00-5:30.
MAC is holding a cover design contest for the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini Meet program. All swimmers are invited to participate. Please be sure your cover design includes your name and place all entries in the Hyrkas folder no later than 6:00 pm Friday.
There are still some empty slots for volunteers for the Hogan meet. In particular, we are in desparate need of computer help, either for Meet Manager or the Colorado used to run the timing system. If you have experience in either of these systems (maybe from summer league or high school), please consider volunteering to fill a slot. If you don't have experience, but are willing to learn, training will be provided. Remember, if your family absolutely cannot attend the meet, it is your responsiblity to make arrangements with the meet director (in this case, Fred Manning - email@example.com) to help with a job prior to or at the conclusion of the meet. In addition, a sheet for concession donations has been posted (filling these slots DOES NOT count toward fulfilling your volunteer obligation!). Let's get these sheets filled!
Don't forget to be working on procuring an ad, either your own or from a local business, for the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini Meet program. A copy of the ad form may be found here (www.macswim.net/files/fundraising_letterhead1.doc). Please contact Renee Hyrkas, firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
If you are interested in becoming a Maryland certified official or just learning about what is involved, our team will be hosting a clinic for entry level officials at the Robert Hogan Mini-Meet at Frederick High on Saturday, February 2nd. The clinic will take place in the cafeteria beginning at noon and will run for about 1 hour.
The practice schedule for tomorrow and Wednesday will be back to normal even though the kids are off from school. The majority of our coaches still have their day job to go to!
Renee has approximately $500 worth of Giant Eagle scrip available. This store offers great discounts on gas based on your purchases. Please considering buying a card if you shop at this store. In addition, she still has SCRIP for Weis and SuperFresh. Contact Renee for more details.
