This is the MAC News for Thursday, May 22nd.
Here are the results from the Abby Seeger Memorial meet held last weekend. MAC had 5 swimmers and 3 relays take home top honors - Hanne Borgersen (13-14 200 free), Laurel Brabson (Open 100 fly), Muhammad Hudhud (11-12 50, 100, 200, and 400 free, and 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke), Christina Hyrkas (11 -12 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke), Jacy Icard (11-12 50 backstroke), and Margot Manning (11-12 50 free, 100 backstroke, 200 IM, and 400 free). The relay team of Matthew Colket, Thomas Colket, Muhammad Hudhud, and Mitch Reynolds took top honors in both the 11-12 boys 400 Medley and Free relays and the team of Lauren James, Christina Hyrkas, Sydney Williams, and Margot Manning won the 11-12 girls 400 Medley relay. In addition, 8 new team records were set. Margot Manning claimed 2 (11-12 girls 400 free and 100 backstroke) and Muhammad Hudhud broke 6 (11-12 boys 50, 100, 200, and 400 free, and 50 and 200 breaststroke). Congratulations to everyone!
There is a practice schedule change for Saturday that affects Age Group I. Age Group I will swim from 10:30-11:30 in the outdoor pool on Saturday with Novice. All other practices on Saturday will be normal. Due to the Memorial Day holiday, ALL groups will be off on Monday.
There are still a limited number of spaces left for both the 11 and older and 10 and under biathlon races during the May 31st cancer fund-raiser. There can be no entries taken on the day of the race. Entries will be accepted through TODAY. If you think you would like to participate, please sign up now! Volunteers are also needed! Anyone willing to donate fruit, baked goods, juice, cups, plates, or napkins should contact Coach Lauren. Volunteers are also needed to help monitor the running course. We are pleased to announce a presentation for MAC parents and older swimmers by MMI, an orthopedic and physical therapy group, located at 86 Thomas Johnson Ct. in Frederick. The presentation will take place at the clinic on Tuesday, May 27th at 6:30 pm and will cover common swimming injuries, injury prevention, medicine ball training, and what MMI has to offer. Snacks will be provided and the entire session should last less than an hour. If you are interested in attending, please sign up on the sheet posted on the bulletin board in the baby pool area so we can give the group an approximate head count.
Here is a heads up regarding some upcoming practice schedule changes for the Novice groups. Beginning the week of June 16th, Novice practice will be reduced to two days a week - Tuesdays and Thursdays. Novice II and III will swim from 5:00-6:15 and Novice I will swim from 6:00-7:15 in the indoor pool. The groups will combine during the 15 minute overlap to do a short dryland routine.
The practice schedule for today is normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:15, Senior White from 5:45-8:00, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00, and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 all in the outdoor pool. Novice I will be in the indoor pool from 5:30-6:30 and Novice II and III will be there as well from 6:30-7:30. There is no practice today for Age Group I. Seniors will have morning practice tomorrow from 5:15-6:30.
