Congratulations to our swimmers, many of whom swam in a meet

This is the MAC News for Monday, February 4th.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time this weekend to make the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini Meet a huge success!

Congratulations to our swimmers, many of whom swam in a meet for the very first time!  Four MAC swimmers took home blue ribbons for their efforts.  Eric Brabson won the 9-10 boys 200 IM.  Cara Brainerd took top honors in the 10 year old girls 50 fly.  Angie Maruca won every event she swam - 10 year old girls 100 and 200 free, 50 and 100 back, 50 and 100 breast, 100 IM, and 9-10 girls 200 IM!  Finally, Sean O'Connell hit the wall first in the 9 year old boys 100 free, 50 back, 100 back, 50 fly, and 200 free.  In addition, 4 MAC relays finished first - the 9-10 boys 200 free relay team of Eric Brabson, Sam Belke, Hank Beiter, and Sean O'Connell; the 9-10 girls 200 free relay team of Holly Coffey, Raya Hudhud, Cara Brainerd, and Angie Maruca; the 9-10 boys 200 medley relay team of Max Reidel, Hank Beiter, Sean O'Connell, and Sam Belke; and the 9-10 girls 200 medley relay team of Angie Maruca, Kimberly Cummings, Cara Brainerd, and Sarah Wilson.  Way to go, everyone!

Don't forget, there has been a schedule change for the ASC Meet this coming weekend which affects the afternoon session on Sunday only.  Warm-ups for this session will begin at 1:00 pm and the meet will start at 2:00 pm.

If your swimmer is attending the GBSA Last Chance meet in a few weeks, please be sure that any new All-Star cuts achieved are reported to the coach on deck.  The coaching staff will do its best not to miss anyone, but, with so many swimmers we want to be sure no one is left out who deserves a chance to swim at the All-Star meet.  The All-Star qualifying times may be found here - www.mdswim.org/Athletes/08MDSTATEQUALIFYINGTIMES.pdf.  Swimmers 14 & under should have bag tags with the qualifying times on them as well.

Due to school closings, there are some practice schedule changes over the next couple of weeks.  On Tuesday, February 12th, Seniors Red, Black, and White will all swim from 6:00-8:00 am.  Age Group I and II will swim from 10:00-12:00.  Novice, Senior Prep and Masters practice will be normal - Novice I from 5:30-6:30, Novice II and II from 6:30-7:30, both in the indoor pool, and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 in the bubble.  On Monday, February 18th, Senior White and Prep will swim from 6:00-8:00 am, Senior Red and Black from 8:00-10:00 am, and Age Groups I and II from 10:00-12:00 all in the bubble.
