A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped ...

This is the MAC News for Monday, May 12th.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped with the bubble this past weekend!  Despite weather conditions that were far from cooperative, we were able to get the bubble down and the outdoor pool ready to go.

With that in mind, here is a review of our weather policy.  IF YOU ARE EVER IN DOUBT ABOUT THE STATUS OF A PRACTICE, PLEASE CHECK YOUR E-MAIL, THE WEBSITE AND/OR THE HOTLINE (301-696-8588) BEFORE LEAVING FOR PRACTICE.  These places will be updated as quickly as possible in the event of a cancellation.  MAC's weather policy, as stated in the MAC Handbook, is as follows -

Every attempt will be made to hold scheduled practices. Please
check the MAC News before leaving for practice if serious weather is
imminent.

At the first sighting of lightning or sound of thunder, the
pool will be immediately evacuated. Swimmers will not be allowed to
return to the pool until 30 minutes after the last occurrence of
thunder or lightning. Every attempt will be made to continue through the
scheduled practice when the weather clears.

Renee Hyrkas will be placing a SCRIP order very soon.  Now is a great time to think ahead to those summer meets or vacations that require an overnight stay.  If you plan to use a Marriott property for your hotel needs, please consider purchasing Marriott SCRIP to pay for those rooms.  You may place your order via the internet ( www.macswim.net/scrip) or contact Renee at rhyrkas@hyrk1.com.  All orders must be placed and paid for by Friday.

Speedo has just announced that colored FSII suits are available on a first come, limited basis.  Our rep at Pools, Patios, and Porches will place an order for any MAC swimmer interested in a black and red FSII suit.  Orders must be placed by Friday, May 23 to have the most success at satisfying all orders.  This opportunity is a one time deal.  Speedo does not offer the colored FSII all year long.  Pricing is as follows - female recordbreaker is $170, male jammer is $150 and MAC swimmers receive a 20% discount on those prices.  For more information, or to place an order, contact Paul Gargol at 301-698-1200.

Entries for the MAC biathlon fund-raiser on May 31st are due to Coach Lauren's folder by Thursday.

Also due Thursday is your first payment of the trimester if you pay your dues on the installment plan.  Questions regarding your bill should be directed to Fred Manning at fredmanning@comcast.net.

Team and individual photos will be taken by Roby's Photo Studio next Tuesday, May 20th.  More information about the schedule will be available soon.

At this point, the practice schedule for today is back to normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30, Senior White and Senior Prep from 5:45-8:00, and Age Group II from 6:00-8:00 in the outdoor pool.  Age Group I will be in the indoor pool from 4:30-6:15.  There is no practice today for Novice or Masters.
