January 28, 2008
This is the MAC News for Monday, January 28th.
We're coming down to the wire as the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini meet will take place this weekend. E-mails have been sent to those families for which we have addresses and who have yet to sign up for a volunteer position. The rest will be contacted by phone. Please be sure you have made your commitment to this very important fund-raiser for our team. Families who do not meet the 2 session volunteer requirement will be billed for an additional $75 assessment at the conclusion of the meet. We really want your TIME, not your money!
A quick reminder about parking at Frederick High school for the Mini Meet. We must ask that everyone obey ALL of the NO PARKING signs posted in the drive in front of the school to allow access for emergency equipment in the unlikely event we need to call 911. For those of you who are not familiar with Frederick High, there is ample parking behind the school. From Carroll Parkway as you approach the front of the building, turn right and follow the road to the end of the building. Turn left and follow this road to the lot behind the school. Once parked you may go around the other end of the building to reach the pool. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
Don't forget, for those interested in becoming a Maryland certified official, we will be hosting a stroke and turn officials clinic on Saturday at the meet. The clinic will take place in the Frederick High School cafeteria beginning at noon and will run for about an hour. It won't be long before we lose some of our most experienced officials as their swimmers graduate. Please consider giving it a try!
Congratulations to Jeff Reidler and Ellen Colket who took steps to become Nationally certified officials a few weekends ago at the RAC meet. Jeff is already a Nationally certified stroke and turn judge and is well on his way to becoming certified as a Chief Judge. Ellen took steps to become certified at the stroke and turn level. This certification will allow Jeff and Ellen to officiate at Sectional and Zone level meets!
