hristina Hyrkas' winning and sectional qualifying time

This is the MAC News for Wednesday, March 5th.

First, I must apologize for missing a few accomplishments in the story about the LSC Championships yesterday.  Christina Hyrkas' winning and sectional qualifying time in the 11-12 girls 200 breaststroke was also a new team record.  The 11-12 boys relay of Andrew Howard, Ahmed Hegazi, Thomas Colket, and Muhammad Hudhud not only set a new team record in the 200 free relay, they were the state champions as well.  Finally, the 15-18 boys 400 free relay of Frank Reidler, Chris Howard, Will Goundry, and Josh Kim achieved a sectional qualifying time in that event.

As promised, here is a list of MAC swimmers named to the All-Maryland and All-Star Age Group teams.  Our All-Maryland honorees are Hanne Borgersen, Laurel Brabson, and Katelyn Rossick.  To be eligible for this team, swimmers must meet or beat the NCSA Junior National qualifying times at some point during the 2007-2008 season. The All-Star Age Group team is comprised of the top 2 finishers not meeting the All-Maryland standard in each event at the LSC Championship meet.  The MAC swimmers named to this team are:  Angie Maruca, Christina Hyrkas, Margot Manning, Thomas Colket, Muhammad Hudhud, Nikki Hyrkas, Kiersten Bell, Ally Long, and Joanna Yeh.  If your swimmer was named to either team, please be sure to double check their jacket order here - www.mdswim.org/Jacket_Orders-4.pdf

A volunteer is needed to post new team records on the MAC website.  This is a job you can do on your computer at home, and all the required information will be given to you.  It's a simple task that takes a little time after each meet (although the 20 records broken at the State Championships will take a little more time!)  Please call Cindy Wilcox at 301-471-7939 if you are willing to help out.

For those of you attending the Junior All-Star Meet this weekend, don't forget to check the information regarding the meet, including psych sheets and some schedule changes, at www.cbacswimming.org/.

A quick reminder that all groups will be taking a short break between the Short Course and Long Course seasons.  All groups will be off from March 19th through March 25th.  Practice will resume on Wednesday, March 26th.

The practice schedule for today is as follows - All Senior swimmers (Red, Black, and White) who are attending Junior All-Stars will train from 4:00-5:00; the rest of Senior Red and Black will swim from 4:00-6:15; and Age Group I will swim from 6:00-7:45 all in the bubble.  There is no practice today for the rest of Senior White, Senior Prep, Age Group II, Novice or Masters.  There will be morning practice on Friday and Monday from 5:30-6:30 am.  This practice is mandatory for those swimmers going to Junior Nationals and is open to any other interested Senior swimmer.
