New Year?s Challenge Practice - REMINDERS

New Year’s Challenge Set: 10 x 1,000 on the 15 minutes
 
Start the New Year Off Right!
This Sunday, January 1st from 1-3:30pm all VJO swimmers are encouraged to join us for a New Year’s Challenge Swim. The swimmers Challenge is to complete 10x 1,000’s on the 15 minutes. This will take the swimmers 2 and a half hours to complete. Swimmer can use any equipment (fins, board...). All swimmers that complete the challenge will receive a VJO head warmer and 2 extra credit days of practice. For attempting the Challenge all swimmers will receive one extra credit day of practice. The extra credit practice will go towards your Polar Bear Club attendance.
 
What if I CAN’T Complete all 10?
No worries, that’s ok.  If swimmers cannot complete all 10x 1,000’s, just try to complete as many as you can and one day you’ll be there too! How many can you complete this year?
 
Parents Needed to Bring in Food:  We need parents to bring in snack foods on this day, so our swimmers can snack during the Challenge Set. This set will take them 2.5 hours to complete, so they will be burning A LOT of calories and will need to replenish these calories at times during the swim.
 
Food Items Needed: Gold fish, orange slices, grapes, granola bars, crackers, pretzels, and GATORADE… lots and lots of GATORADE. Other bight size snack foods would be great as well!
 
Good Luck VJO Swimmers… You can do it!
If you complete the Challenge Set you will have completed 10,000 yards or 400 lengths (twice our swim a thon) or 6.06 miles of swimming. That is such an accomplishment! What did all your other school friends accomplish on the 1st day of the New Year?
