From USA Swimming Executive Director Chuck Wielgus:
It is with deep regret that I have to write this note to share with you that yesterday, while on USA Swimming business in Carlsbad, CA, Bill Krumm died from an apparent heart attack.
Bill was in his hotel room where he experienced symptoms and had the presence of mind to call the front desk and ask them to call 911. When the medics arrived, they found Bill in the hallway outside his room, and by that time there was unfortunately nothing they could do.
Bill was a member of the USA Swimming staff for nine years and did a fantastic job as the Sport Development Consultant for the Western Zone. He previously had been at the Westport YMCA in Westport, CT, for 27 years.
Bill is survived by his wife, Suzi. To all of us here at USA Swimming, Bill was a popular and much-loved member of our staff team. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
As we learn more, I will share with you.
With the deepest of regrets,
