Swim Team News 7/14/17
A Great Season So Far!
Six dual meets, six wins. Doesn’t get much better than that. The kids are swimming fast it looks like they’re having fun. Nothing like a summer of swimming to keep everyone busy!
When we’re updating the best times sheets after each meet, we are always astounded at some of the time drops. The kids are really working hard. Remember that you can track your swimmers times by logging into the Team Unify website and clicking on “My Account” and then “My Meet Results”.
Thanks to everyone for coming together and helping to run our four dual meets. Everything has been top notch and smooth. Many of our board members (past and present) have put in literally hundreds of hours to upgrade our meet technology and organize our meets. Thanks for all of the help!
Remaining Dual Meet
One more dual meet – Sand Point. They have a ton of fast swimmers. We’ll put in our best lineup and see how we matchup. No matter the final score, I anticipate seeing some great close races and lots of time drops.
At the finish of the dual meet season, all swimmers are eligible to participate in the championship season. Swimmers that reach a qualifying time standard swim at the Division Preliminaries*. Those who haven't reached a qualifying time swim at the B-Championship meet. Results from B-Champs can move a swimmer into prelims if it betters the prelim standard.
The fastest six swimmers in each event at the Prelims move on to the Northern Division Finals. To qualify for the All-City Meet, a swimmer's time at Northern Division is compared to the Southern Division results. The fastest six results, regardless of North or South affiliation, are entered in the All-City Championship meet.
*All swimmers participating in prelims must be available to swim at North Finals and the All-City Championship meet.
Some swimmers with non-qualifying times may still participate in Prelims if they are placed on a relay. Remember to mark “attend/decline” for all of the championship meets, even if you’re not sure which ones that you will qualify for. Your coaches will help you to decide which meets you will attend.
When you "declare" your participation for the B-Meet, you'll also have the opportunity to pick which three events that you would like to swim. You can edit your commitment, and/or your event choices, through next Wednesday. If you have already declared, you can go back in and still pick your races.
Our early meet calendar incorrectly listed this meet as being held at Sand Point. Klahaya is the correct hosting pool.
More Volunteer Opportunities –
We need to provide timers and certified stroke & turn judges for all of the post season meets. Job slots are open for sign up online. We’re also hosting the Boys’ Prelims and will need everyone available to help us run a smooth meet. What a great chance to show off our club to all of our north end league teams!
2017 Team Shirts & Tie-Dye Party – 7/18
We’ve scheduled the tie-dye party for Monday, July 17th. If you missed the shirt order deadline, there are some extra team shirts available for purchase. You can also bring any other shirt from home to use.
We also need plenty of adult help to make this work. Remember to sign up online to register your volunteer hours.
Banquet/Potluck – 7/30 - 6:00pm (SUNDAY)
More details soon. Let me know if you want to help organize this event. We also have setup/cleanup jobs available for you to sign up for on the website.
Lost & Found
There have been a number of team suits and Aqua Club gear living in our lost-and-found. Please check with your swimmer to see if one of them is yours. Remember to put your name on the tag.
We still have one 9:00am Saturday clinic left – 7/15 (tomorrow). Please try and preregister in the office so that we have an idea on what our staffing needs will be. Cost is $10.
