May Madness 2021

Welcome to the Week at a Glance E-Bulletin that provides your one-stop-spot for all the information you need to know now, some reminders, and where to find the information you need.  Please make sure you are logged on to the website when you review the information-many of the pages are visible only when you are logged in.

PRACTICE STARTS TUESDAY: Practice for Competitive Team swimmers begins this coming Tuesday, June 1st. Please look at the Practice Schedule linked   HERE and make sure you are coming during the correct practice time. Mini Dolphin practices will begin on Tuesday, June 15th. Please note that due to ongoing concerns about social distancing with children as a yet-to-be vacinnated group, there have been some shifts in times, age groups, and process.  PLEASE NOTE PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON DECK THIS YEAR DURING PRACTICE.
COVID GUIDELINES: Coach Wendy sent out an email with Covid information for practices and meets. We have this to the Covid Information page  HERE under the Parent tab. If things change, we will update this page.
TIME TRIALS MEET SIGNOUT DEADLINE: IF you swimmer(s) will not be participating in TIme Trials, please have them signed out by 8:00 P.M. tomorrow, Sunday, May 30th so Wendy and the rest of the Coaching staff have enough time to build the meet. Doing meet entries is A LOT OF WORK. Please be mindful of the Coaching staff and remember the weekly meet sign-out deadlines. Click  HERE for directions on how to sign out of a meet.
POOL ACCESS: The Wellington Pool is operating this summer as "business as usual". For Swim Team, just like HOA patrons, access is through the small gate near the deep end of the pool. If you are a Wellington HOA member family, or a Non-Resident Pool Member (NRPM) family, please badge your swimmers in using your electronic pool access card with the scanner at the Lifeguard desk. If you are not an HOA or NRPM family, please stop by the desk and let the Lifeguards on duty know your child(ren) are there for swim practice. Once your swimmer is in the pool compound, parents are reminded they are not to remain on the pool deck this year. If you are an HOA or NRPM member with non-functional pool access cards, please visit the HOA onsite office ASAP to get your pass sorted out. We cannot help you if the Lifeguards deny access due to invalid passes-that's between you and the HOA office.
FIRST WEEK CRAZIES: On top of the Covid curveball, we only have FOUR days of practice and then roll right into our first meet-Time Trials. Please be understanding of the Coaching staff as they get to know your swimmers and learn their capabilities. Please keep an eye on the website and your email for information and updates. We will be scheduling Parent meetings which will be helpful for new families. Our website is full of information, especially on the Parent tab. (Make sure you log in to see this content!)
PARENT MEETINGS: We will have four options for a parent meeting during the first week. To try and keep it to smaller groups there will be two times on Wednesday, June 2nd-5:30 and 7:00, and two times on Thursday, June 3rd, again-5:30 and 7:00. We will meet outside the small gate near the picnic table and bike rack.
  1. Have you checked your swimmer's information under the Swimmer Rosters page of the website? It is under the Parents tab  HERE. Email us if you need changes. T-shirts have already been ordered, so we can no longer change shirt sizes.
  2. Have you signed up to Volunteer? All the Meet volunteer lists are open (except the TBD meet to replace Dale City). We have lots of information about Volunteering linked from the Parent Tab of our website if you need help. Volunteer positions are describled  HERE, and how to volunteer is explained  HERE.
  3. Did you sign your Competitive swimmer out of any meets you will be missing this summer? It is essential you sign out for meets by the deadline posted on the  Calendar page. Failure to sign out will drive the Coaches crazy. Don't risk it. There are step-by-step instructions on how to do this posted under the Parent tab on the  Sign out for a Meet page. Mini Dolphins do not need to sign out from meets.
  4. Did you make sure you have your phone set up properly to receive text alerts? Follow the instructions for setting up text alerts under the Parent tab or click  HERE.
  5. Have you connected to us on Social Media? We will be communicating practice cancelations and urgent information using text alerts along with our Twitter (WDSwimTeam) and our Facebook (Wellington Dolphins Swim Team). You do not need a Twitter or Facebook account to view these pages. Posts to Twitter>Facebook also post on the home page of our website. There is a closed Parents group on Facebook called Wellington Dolphins Swim Team Parents. If you wish to be added to this group, make a request to the group administrator via the link on the Facebook page. It's a great place to network with other Dolphin families.
DALE CITY MEET UPDATE:  The Dale City Frogs use a pool that is run by Prince William County. They were told by the County they would not be able to host another team at their pool this summer. We offered to host them, but since then, they have decided they will not be swimming this summer. Virginia Oaks has also decided not to swim this summer. We are in the process of figuring out a plan B. It may be we host another team that was to swim Virginia Oaks the same weeknd (Old Bridge) or, we get creative and have something fun just amongst ourselves. We will let you know as soon as we know. In the meantime, the volunteer list for that weekend has been turned off until we know what we will be doing. Stay tuned!...
Please keep an eye on our website, and watch for and read emails from us. If you have ANY questions, please don't hesitate to send us an email. Someone typically will respond to you right away.
