WCAB Meet 10/16-17
Good luck all athletes participating in the WCAB Senior meet this weekend! The coaches will be John and Dave. The meet is at Diablo Valley College, 321 Golf Club Road, Pleasant Hill, CA. Please be at the meet between 7:30 and 7:45am.

Please note the addition of the dryland schedule! Sorry, that was accidentally omitted last week. If you do not attend meets on the weekend, you MUST be at Saturday morning practice. Congratulations on finishing Stroke Clinic! Now it is time to sign up for C/B/A+ meets to qualify for JOs. JOs is December 3-5 in Pleasanton. Please check the Age Group Schedule for the meet schedule ( ).

Yellow Bells
Our test set this Friday will be 50 freestyles so get ready to race!

White Bells
Coach Brett will be at the Monterey Meet. Coach Abigail will be at the ALMA meet and the Gilroy meet, both which are in Morgan Hill. There is a mandatory White Bell Parents meeting Thursday Oct. 14th from 6:00pm-6:30pm.

Junior Bells
The Bucknall Pool and the Saratoga Pool will be closed Wednesday Oct. 13, 2010. There will be no practice held that day.

National Select Camp
Sam Shimomura , a member of our Senior National team, was invited to the National Select Camp happening in October! Each fall, USA Swimming brings 60 of the top USA Swimming member athletes in the nation for a once-in-a-lifetime camp experience, selected from the SWIMS database of top times. Congratulations Sam!

Disability Meet

SCSC’s Tip of the Week
Even though it’s getting colder out, that doesn’t mean you don’t need to drink as much! You sweat even when you’re in the water, so make sure you have a water bottle at every practice. Here is an excerpt from PhD, RD and USA Swimming correspondent Dr. Kathleen Wolfe’s article “Stay Hydrated”

  • Drink at least 2 cups (16 ounces) of fluid, preferably water, about two hours before exercise. Fifteen minutes before exercise, drink one-half to a cup of water.
  • During exercise, drink about 6-12 ounces every 15-20 minutes. An average “gulp” is about one ounce. When your workouts are less than an hour, plain water will keep you hydrated. When your workouts are more than an hour, consume a sports beverage that contains fluid, carbs and electrolytes.
  • After exercise, replace fluids as quickly a possible. For every pound of body weight lost during a workout, drink three cups of fluid.
