PASA Swim Meet Update

The meet is the weekend of November 13 and 14 at Palo Alto High School, located at 50 Embarcadero Road, Palo Alto, California. Session A (swimmers 13 and older) will begin at 8:30am with warm-ups starting at 7:15am. Session B (swimmers 12 and under) warm-ups will begin at the conclusion of the a.m. session, but not before 11:00am. Meet will begin at Noon. Finals for all swimmers who qualify will begin no earlier than 4:30pm on Saturday and 4:00pm on Sunday. This meet is an invite meet, so entries will be handled by the coaching staff. Group coaches will determine who is eligible to attend (based on times, workout performance and attendance, etc.). Please see your individual group coach for any further questions regarding this meet.

Locker room Reminders

The locker rooms are a place to shower and change, not a place to rough house and play around. The showers require a lot of hot water to run and the producing of this hot water comes at a cost to the City of Santa Clara, our landlords at this facility. Please do not abuse the showers and spend more time under the hot water than is necessary. Also please do not turn on more than one shower at a time. You only need one. The handicap shower is not to be used; this shower is designated for people with handicaps, not for anyone who wants to use it. Finally, please turn off your shower when you are finished. Leaving a shower on or leaving a shower dripping is again a waste of hot water. Remember, hot water comes at a cost to the City of Santa Clara and this cost could easily be passed on to our club and we would like to avoid this while also helping the city maintain its goal of cutting 10% of energy costs throughout the city for this budget year.

Thank you!

Blue Bells - boys

Any blue group boy parent that has any questions or concerns can schedule a meeting with Erik between 2:00 and 5:00pm.
Blue group goal test:
Ask your boy what his swimming goals are. If he can't answer he has failed the blue group boys test. You can set up a meeting with me to help set goals.

Blue Bells - girls

Parents, please sign up your swimmers for CBA meets to qualify for Junior Olympics, held December 3-5 in Pleasanton. This is a team meet so let’s all try to qualify! Thank you!

SCSC’s Tip of the Week

Stretching is a great thing to do at any time of the day! It’s a great way to wake up in the morning, to warm your body up for any sort of athletic activity and to relax after practice and/or before bed. There are two different types of stretching: dynamic stretching and static stretching. Dynamic stretching is more useful when waking up or before becoming active. Some good examples of dynamic stretching include arm swings, leg swings, even jumping jacks. On the other hand, static stretching is a nice, relaxing way to stretch, maybe before bed. Try to hold static stretches for 30 seconds, then take a deep breath in, exhale, and reach a little further. There are many benefits to improving your flexibility (injury prevention, improved technique in the water, improved body position in the water, etc.) so make it a habit to stretch on your own daily!

Thanks for reading and see you next week!
