Blue Bells - boys
Blue Bells - girls
You girls are doing great in practice; thank you all! However, I'd like to see better attendance on Saturdays and more swimmers participating in the next swim meet. Keep up the great work ladies!
We have a parent meeting this Wednesday, November 3rd at 5:45pm! This does mean that Session 1 will end 15 minutes early and Session 2 will start 15 minutes late. Also, we start our new schedule this week; please have your children bring their buoys to practice every day from now on. Our test set this week will be 10 x 50 STROKE (non-freestyle!) We will allow you to switch to a different stroke after 5, but you don’t have to!
The Junior Bell schedule will be as follows:
Nov 1st -Nov 12th
November 15th onwards
We had 72 best times last weekend at the MBSC meet along with some new JO cuts! Congratulations to:
Dasha Pastushenko 50Fl
Erik Simeon 50Fr
Se Yeon Park 200Br
SCSC’s Tip of the Week
For many, Halloween means candy! And like everything else, candy is great, as long as it’s in moderation! Don’t let the holidays wreak havoc on your body. Pay attention to what kind of fuel you fill your body up with! For general, everyday nutrition, there are a few key phrases to keep in mind:
"Snack often." Your body can't perform the the best of it's ability when it's hungry. Energy needs for swimmers are quite high, so make sure you have snacks for before and after practice. You need to eat WITHIN 30 MINUTES of the end of workout.
"Everything in moderation." Have a cookie. Maybe even have 2, but a whole box is probably not a good idea.
"Stay HYDRATED." It is extremely important to PEE CLEAR. Might seem kind of weird to talk about, but it's a great way to see if you've been drinking enough liquids.
"Eat the colors of the rainbow." And I don't mean Skittles. Color is nature's way of signaling what kind of foods have what kind of nutrients. Also, the deeper and more vibrant the (natural) color, the better it is for you. For example, dark green spinach has more nutrients than iceberg lettuce. If you hit all of the colors every day, you can make sure that you're getting all the nutrients you need.
Have a safe and happy Halloween and see you next week!
