ZONES has arrived! The meet is here at home this weekend! Good luck to all participating teammates! I’ve attached “What to Expect at the Meet” and “What to Bring to a Meet”. Please make sure you review these handouts, especially if this is your second or third meet!

New Meet Schedule

We have now posted the meet schedule all the way through the end of 2011! Check it out here:
Please remember, we only recommend your swimmer participate in ONE swim meet a month (with the exception of Championship meets such as JOs and Far Westerns). More importantly, it should be a meet that is on our team schedule. If you would like to attend a meet not listed, PLEASE get your coach’s approval first. Thank you!

SCSC’s Team Goals!

We are going to be making a Team Goal List where we want you to share your goals with the rest of the team! You can include your name or leave it anonymous. Simply respond back to this email with your name, age, group, whether or not you’d like to be “anonymous” in the final tally and your goals! We will be accepting submissions for the next two weeks, until January 15th. Email me at

SCSC Has ARRIVED on Facebook!
Check out the new SCSC Facebook page and become a fan! We will be posting the Weekly Chlorine there as well as other information, so stay updated!

Make sure you enter the SCSC Senior Meet at the end of the month here:

Blue Bells - boys
Sacrifice: To forfeit (one thing) for another thing considered to be of greater value.

Discipline:  Training that produces moral or mental improvement.

The greater the sacrifice the more potential for discipline.

Blue Bells - girls

Let's re-evaluate our goals and prepare for a super winter of swimming and success!!! Good luck at the Zone 1 South Short Course Championship meet!

Yellow Bells

Don’t forget your goal-setting! Zones is this weekend so let’s make sure we’re ready for it; we will be practicing dives and stepping up on the blocks this week with the whistles!

White Bells

Sorry for the confusion with the schedule last week! The correct schedule is posted above.

International group: Great job on Friday with our test set! You all did an amazing job, both Coach Brett and I are very proud of all your hard work and dedication in getting ready for ZONES!

That's right, it's that time again for all White Bell swimmers who have been attending meets for the past 6 months with White Bell to come to our Bead Ceremony next Thursday January 13th at 4:30pm! This is for all your hard work these last few months in getting those new A and B times!

Junior Bells

No news!

SCSC’s Tip of the Week: a MUST READ THIS WEEK!

If you’ve never known what all those whistles mean at a meet, here’s your chance to learn! The whistles are an integral part of a meet and help to expedite the racing. You need to know what they mean and what to do when you hear them! There are two different procedures:

When you are going to be diving off the blocks:

A series of short whistles to get ready (stand right behind the block so they know you’re there)

One long whistle to get up on the blocks (or stand by the edge of the pool if you dive off the side)

"Take your mark"

For backstroke starts:

A series of short whistles to get ready (stand right behind the block so they know you’re there)

1 long whistle to get into the water

1 long whistle to get ready

"Take your mark"

If you’re still having trouble, ask one of the coaches and when you get to the meet, watch some other events (such as the later heats of the older kids) to see how it’s done!

Thanks for reading!
