At the recently completed USA Swimming Juniors in Atlanta, Georgia, the men’s squad of Ian Burns, Christian Bedell, Chris Scheaffer, Michael Nunan, Jackson Partin, Sam Shimomura, Stephen Shilling, and Matt Webster finished 4th overall. In doing so, they sent two new USA Swimming Records in the 4 X 50 Free Relay (Ian Burns, Sam Shimomura, Stephen Shilling, and Chris Scheaffer) and the 4 X 200 Free Relay (Michael Nunan, Sam Shimomura, Ian Burns, and Stephen Shilling) for 15-16 Boys. The group also sent three new Pacific Swimming relay records in the 4 X 50 Free Relay, the 4 X 200 Free Relay, and the 4 X 100 Free Relay for 15-16 Boys. The women’s squad of Charlotte Ruby, Natalie Garland, Haley Oosterhouse, and Sarah Shimomura combined with the men’s squad to finish 8th overall for combined teams. Every swimmer from SCSC contributed and scored for the team in its overall point total.
At the Pacific Swimming 14-Under Junior Olympics held in Pleasanton, California, the swimmers from SCSC finished 1st. The efforts of every swimmer from SCSC who competed contributed to first place finish for the club. Besides the many new PRT times and Far Western cuts achieved swimmers, Raime Jones captured high point for the 10 & Under Girls and David McKenna finished 3rd for the 10 & Under Boys.
Congratulations to every one of the SCSC swimmers who competed at either the USA Swimming Short Course Junior Nationals or the Pacific Swimming 14-Under Junior Olympics.
