7 Individual Boys HS State Champs

The BCST boys enjoyed another successful HS Swimming State Championships. Representing 13 different High Schools and 3 different "State" classifications, the 28 BCST boys managed to claim 7 individual state championships and for some they helped lead their school to it’s first ever state title.

The individual state champions were Alec Barnard who won the 2A 100 Fly (51.21),  Ed Kim was a double winner in the 4A 200 Free (1:38.72) and 100 Back (48.84), Brian Ruggles who captured the 4A 100 Free (47.39)  Steve Sholdra won in the 2A 200 Free (1:40.78) and 500 Free (4:28.18), and  Liam Sosinsky won the 4A 100 Breast (57.45).

Automatic All-American qualifiers were Ed in his 200 Free & 100 Back and Steve in his 500 Free.  Steve’s 200 Free and Liam’s 100 Breast earned All American consideration.

The best team battle of the meet was in the 3A, where many BCST swimmers went head to head.  Mercer Island had won 6 consecutive boys state titles, but the brain’iacs from Lakeside had something to say about it.  The two team exchanges blows throughout the meet, only having it come down to the last relay.  When the smoke cleared it ended up being Lakeside crowned as new champs.

It doesn't get any easier for the Senior Boys as they prepare for one of the fastest meets in the country, SR Sectionals starting March 8th.

Below are a brief list of results and team scores.  Guys, we are very proud of you!
