"Everyone Swims" Webinar March 5, 2012

Everyone Swims: Promoting Swimming and Water Recreation among Diverse Communities
Monday March 5, 11:30am-12:30pm

Life in many parts of the Pacific Northwest is defined by water-from our famous drizzle to our rivers, lakes, and oceans. These bodies of water provide scenic spots for gathering with others and being active, but can also present safety concerns, particularly for children and teens. Everyone Swims, a project to increase access to swimming among culturally diverse and low-income communities, provides an innovative approach to obesity and drowning prevention. Through a collaboration of primary care providers, water recreation organizations, and obesity and drowning prevention experts at Seattle Children's, Everyone Swims developed policy and systems strategies to promote swimming and water recreation in Seattle and King County.

On Monday, March 5, 2012, join the staff at Seattle Children's Hospital for a webinar on strategies to promote water recreation in your community. Policy and systems change strategies include screening for swim ability, referrals to swimming and water recreation, swimming scholarships, and special swim and water recreation programs. Join this webinar to learn more about successful policy and systems change strategies and tools that you can use to bring Everyone Swims to your community. Made possible by funding from the Department of Health and Human Services and Public Health Seattle & King County
