As we conclude Short Course season and enter Long Course, the mad scramble to secure spots in meets begins, and in order to ensure our spots we have to enter meets sometimes as far as 2 months in advance. Because of these extremes, it’s sometimes hard to project what meets I or my swimmer(s) should attend.
The month of June is one where there are a lot of opportunities, so we want to clarify who should be signing up for which meet.
The first meet of the month is Apple Capital in Wenatchee, and everyone can sign up for this meet. This is an all team travel meet that is a lot of fun. Besides swimming, there is a team picnic, and for SR1, SR2, and SRE athletes the opportunity to go river rafting as well. We currently have the ability to sign up for events on our web-site, but no meet information to go along with it. Athletes may swim 2 events on Friday, and 3 per day on Saturday and Sunday. We also don’t participate in Session 7 on Sunday, and swimmers rafting should only sign up for events on Friday and Saturday.
The next meet is the Last Chance for Glory Meet at KCAC. This meet is for swimmers who have met the following criteria.
- Met 1 “Gold” time (8 & Under swimmers must have met the 9-10 “Gold” standard)
- Not attending the Howard Jones Age Group Meet
- Not attending the Howard Jones SR Meet
- Not attending Olympic Trials
Next is the Howard Jones AG Meet. This meet is for qualified swimmers ages 12 & under. Families will need to provide their own transportation an book their own lodging for the meet. Currently we have a block of rooms available at the Holiday Inn Gresham, and you can make your reservations by calling 503-907-1777. Eligibility Report
The Howard Jones SR meet is for qualified swimmers ages 13 & older. Swimmers will travel by bus with coaches and chaperones for this 4 day adventure. Space will be limited, so stay tuned for more info on how to sign up. Eligibility Report
The Titlow classic, will no longer be at Titlow pool due to it’s closure. The new venue is S. Kitsap HS pool in Port Orchard. This meet is for swimmers who did not attend either the Howard Jones AG or SR meet, and for swimmers not attending Olympic trials. This meet will fill up fast, so there will be a fast turn around on entries.
Because it’s crucial that we get out entries in early, families will not have the luxury of an abundance of time to sign up. Please be sure and regularly check you e-mail for notifications on meets, as well as visit the web-site for the latest on meets as well.
