KAYLA WHEELER SETS WORLD RECORD AT PARALYMPIC TRIALS!!!

DAY TWO

Kayla Wheeler (Shadow Seals) set the world record for the women’s 50m butterfly (S1), finishing in 1:38.49.  “I was really hoping to break the record,” said Wheeler. “I thought I could and was really happy to see my time at the wall,” said Wheeler.

Wheeler, who will soon turn 16, has good company from PNS among the other young athletes at trials who hope to earn nominations to London.  Haley Beranbaum (Stingray Swim Club) racked up three Silver medals on Friday, placing second in the 50 Back (S5), 50 Free (S5), and 50 Fly (S5).  Ira Kaplan (Pro  Club) finished 2nd in the 50 Fly (S6) and 4th in the 100 Back (S6).  Sierra Landholm (Metro Aquatics) finished 8th in the 100 Back (S9).

Coach, Ben Olszewski, wraps up the first two days, saying "I'm so proud of all our PNS girls, and they raced tough with tremendous hearts the entire meet."
