Lost Dutchman 2009

Thirty three swimmers ventured into the "Valley of the Sun" to compete for 3 days against some of North America’s finest swimmers. Teams from Arizona, California, New Mexico and Mexico were in attendance battling it out in the 2009 Lost Dutchman meet.

This was the 6th year in a row that we’ve attended the meet, and even though the turnout was smaller than in years past BCST still came away 6th overall. We battled sun, cold, wind, NBA All Star Traffic, an infected toe, and a 5 pound meatball. We had some great swims and we saw some great swims (how about a 20.79 50 fly). Congratulations to Robbie Adler, Caitlin Cox, Trey Leigh, and Michael Stanchi, they competed in finals in all 9 of their events.

These swimmers placed in the top 8 in their individual events scoring points – Robbie Adler (100 Breast / 100 Free / 200 Breast / 50 Breast) – Caitlin Cox (100 Back / 50 Fly / 50 Back) – Lauren Deiparine (50 Breast) – Luke Duschl (100 Back / 400 IM / 200 Back) – Trey Leigh (50 Fly / 100 Free / 50 Free) – Bryanna Moore (50 Back) – Devon Morris (100 Free / 50 Free) – Meghan O’Keefe (200 Fly / 400 IM / 500 Free / 200 IM) – Alex Seidel (100 Back / 50 Fly / 50 Back / 50 Breast) – Steve Sholdra (200 Fly / 200 Free / 400 IM / 100 Breast / 500 Free / 200 Breast / 100 Fly / 200 IM) – Paolo Stanchi (400 IM / 200 Back / 200 IM).

Also special recognition to the 11-12 girl’s 200 free winning relay of Alex Seidel, Emily Olsen, Natalie Fontana, and Caitlin Cox.

All in all it was another successful venture and we’re hoping that more of you will get the chance to attend this meet in 2010.
