Swimmers Achieve Winter National Standards

A total of 32 girls achieved national level standards this past weekend at the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association Championships at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. Competitions were observed by USA Swimming Officials and verified for entry into winter national competitions this December.

·    The “ AT&T Winter National Championships” will be held at the University of Texas in Austin, TX November 29 through December 1. This competition includes swimmers of all ages that make the qualifying times. Many national team members and collegiate teams will be in attendance.

·      The “ Speedo Junior Winter National Championships” will be held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN December 6 through 8. This competition includes swimmers 18 years and younger that make qualifying times. Swimmers who have “Winter National” standards may compete in the Junior Winter Championships.

·      “Junior Winter National” qualifiers have an opportunity to swim “Bonus” events if they make the bonus time standards. Many swimmers have not yet made their first “Junior Winter National” standard yet, but have achieved the “Bonus” standard. Although they are not eligible to compete at the championship meet, they are one step closer to making the “Junior Winter National” standard.

Congratulations to all swimmers for their accomplishments!
