PNS Swimmers Post Top National Times at Champs - Day 1

Day one of the Pacific Northwest Swimming 14U Championships recorded four national top performances for the 2012-2013 season. Gabby Dang (WAVE) won the girls 11-12 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.24. The time ranks number one in the nation for 12 year old girls. The time is also a new PNS record. The previous record of 59.27 was held by Ella Johnson swimming Unattached in 2009… Thomas Anderson of King Aquatic Club swam a blistering 100 yard backstroke at 49.39 in the boys’ 13-14 age group. This is not only the top time in the nation for the event, but also just off the national record of 49.20 seconds. This also set a new PNS record. The previous record of 50.86 was swum by Ed Kim (BC) in 2010. Anderson also recorded a time of 58.66 in the 100 yard breaststroke which ranks second in the national for 14 year old boys… Ivan Graham of Bellevue Club Swim Team posted a time of 2:03.67 in the boys 11-12 200 yard butterfly event. This is the top ranked time in the nation for 12 year old boys. It also bettered a 25 year old PNS record. The previous mark was held by Ugur Taner at 2:05.18 set in 1987. Graham also broke the PNS record in the boys’ 11-12 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.89. The previous record was held by Mitch Hovis (KING) at 1:03.09 set in 2012. The time ranks second in the national for 12 year old boys. Graham also recorded the fifth fastest time in the county for the 400 yard individual medley at 4:26.40…Ten year old Ethan Dang of King Aquatic Club broke his own record in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.50. The previous mark was 1:11.14…

Bellevue Club Swim Team of William Zhou, Ivan Graham, Alex Elizarov, and Henry Lucco set a new PNS record in the boys' 11-12 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:48.34. The time ranks second in the nation just behind the new national record of 1:47.44. The previous mark was held by King Aquatic Club set in 2011.

King Aquatic Club's quartet of Thomas Anderson, Mitch Hovis, Dale Williams, and Josh Maclurg set a new PNS record in the boys' 13-14 20 yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.07. The time ranks first in the nation. The previous mark of 1:39.58 was held by Bellevue Club Swim Team set in 2012.. In the same event Bellevue Club Swim team posted a time of 1:39.80 which ranks third in the country. Teammates include: Dave Makhervaks, Ben Whitty, Ryan Kinnear, and Aaron Elhajj.

National Top Ten performances include: Garrett Waite (BISC -11) 7th100 backstroke; 10th400 yard individual medley; Daniel Ryaboshapka(BC-13) 10th100 backstroke; Dave Makhervaks(BC-14) 10th100 backstroke; Isabel Chien(KING-11) 4th200 yard butterfly; Bindi Pedersen(MMSC-12) 3rd200 yard butterfly; 7th100 yard breaststroke; Vlad Elizarov(BC-11) 3rd200 yard butterfly; Alex Elizarov(BC-12) 7th200 yard butterfly; Sabrina Kwan(OCA-14) 4th200 yard butterfly; Dale Williams(TSC-13) 4th200 yard butterfly; Tim Kralj(GAC-14) 7th200 yard butterfly; 7th400 yard individual medley; Lia Campbell(BISC-13) 3rd50 yard freestyle; Jonathan Cook (WEST-12) 9th100 yard breaststroke; Mitch Hovis(KING-13) 4th100 yard breaststroke; Delora Li(PDST-11) 7th400 yard individual medley; Gianna Haugen(KING-14) 10th400 yard individual medley.
