Elks Swim & Dive Update

Happy New Year!  The Elks Swim & Dive team is off to a great start and we are in the busiest time of our season.  Below is an update on the parent activities and help that we need:

As discussed in the kick-off meeting our team funding mechanism is from running meets.  We have 3 major meets coming up (Coaches Classic, GWOC Reserve and the Boys and Girls Sectionals) and need volunteers.  Remember, each family is required to volunteer for 6 slots throughout the season.  There are many openings and jobs across all the meets so we are sure there is something you can sign up for!  Since we do have a new way to sign up for volunteering, below is the process:
  1. Go to the home page of the website (
  2. Click on Events which is in the middle of the webpage navigation bar.
  3. Choose the Event you would like to volunteer for (ie.  Classics)
  4. Next to the Meet or Event will be a button for Job Signup. Click into the area and all options for volunteering will be listed.
  5. Check the appropriate box for the particular job you would like to sign up for and hit Signup.
  6. Another box will come up - please type in the name of the person doing the volunteering. You will then see your information appear next to the desired job. If you are signing up to time and both parents want to time you need to click two boxes (each box is just for one position).
  • Note:  Empty boxes next to jobs mean they are available for signup. If you click on the job sign up button and it says that job sign up is not available (ie. pancake breakfasts) then just check back at a later time.
The extra T-Shirts and caps are in and will be available to hand out at Friday morning practice.  Attached in this e-mail is a list of all that was ordered sorted by family last name.  In order to pick-up your items you will need to pay in either Cash or Check at that time.  Make checks out to CHS Swim & Dive.
This Friday is Senior Night at the Washington Township Recreation Center.  All swimmers and divers will be participating so this is a great meet to come out and cheer on the Elks!  If you have signed up to work be sure to make your shift on time.
If you are a CHS Booster supporter and have the coupon for your winter program., we will have winter programs available at the Senior night meet.  Please remember to bring the coupon to get your program book.  Without the coupon, Winter Programs are $10.
Coaches Classic is the biggest high school swim meet in the nation and is on Saturday and Sunday, January 19 – 20.  We are one of seven host preliminary pools.  The top 24 swimmers across all 7 pools then go to St. Xavier to swim finals.  This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and we have over 100 volunteer slots for the weekend that need to be filled.  Parents, siblings, friends are all welcome to work!
We need many volunteers to run these events so check the website to see when you can work.  Every family must work at least one shift at Sectionals.  More information on who is swimming / diving athese meets will be sent out from the coaching staff as we near these events.
