Apple Capital 2009

Apple Capital 2009

Hot times at this year’s Apple Cap….literally. The team swam hot recording an outstanding number of best times, and everyone who was in attendance felt the near 100 degree heat that was bearing down on the city of Wenatchee. This annual all-team travel meet is always a favorite. Swimming outdoors is the essence of Long Course swimming and the warm weather and beautiful surroundings make attending this meet a mandatory for BCST.
There were some outstanding performances, highlighted by young Maxwell Cross (8) setting a new BCST record in the 100m Back (1:41.67). This is a great accomplishment, especially by a swimmer who is still in the Silver Group (great work Crystal).
We also had 45 swimmers achieve 100% best times – Jane Andersen, Natalie Andersen, Eric Benca, Ellie Berstein, Sebastian Bury, Ellie Clawson, Keena Clawson, Caitlin Cox, Teddy Crane, Marley Cross, “Mad" Max Cross, Noah Cross, Noah Deiparine, Chandler Erisman, Blake Evans, Tessa Fisk, Kellen Gibson, Cymran Giri, Nisha Giri, Austin Gu, Kunal Gupta, Rahul Gupta, Jennifer Hillier, Conrad Karwal, Hannah Leahy, Amy LeBar, Kristin LeBar, Alice Li, Nolan Manning, Olivia Manning,  James Markwith, Quinn Markwith, Tesslyn Matthes, Jessica Mead, Madison Mead, Christie Melby, Lauren Ralph, Margaret Seaton, Kristen Spiegel, Marco Stanchi, Kelli taylor, Max Thornton, Hannah Walsh, Joseph Walsh, and Sarah Walsh.
Our “very post" grads had some good swims as well including a 3rd place finish for John Cross in the 50 Free, a 7th place for Jason Cross in the 100 Fly, and a 15th place finish in the 100 Fly for David Stanchi.

Dwight Anderson again proved to be the most dominant athlete on the BCST coaching staff (and that’s saying something with this cast of coaches). He was unbeatable on the pool table Friday evening for the first 20 minutes, then he got tired and went to bed at 9:00 pm.  Dwight was able to pull himself together and rally on Saturday night posting a whopping 167 in bowling, beating all other coaches by 20 or more points.

Last, I wanted to recognize the great efforts by the BCST Boosters and Parents over the weekend. The Boosters again put on a fun and delicious picnic for the team Saturday evening. And kudos to our parents who braved the heat and sun and filled the BCST timing commitments as well as a few other team’s timing commitments. Thank you all!
