CHS Swim and Dive Newsletter November 4, 2013

Great turnout for the First Practice! Please remember to turn in forms and be ready to practice this week.  Thanks to Mr. Huhta for organizing a great Pancake Breakfast!

Swim Practice(Non-Club Swimmers) this week on Wednesday night from 8pm-8:45pm.  Practice this Friday morning (All Swimmers and Divers) at 5:15am.....doors will lock at 5:20am.  Divers – please check website for weekly dive practice schedule.

Team Captain Questionnaires

If you are a Junior or Senior and interested in being a Captain,  please pick up a questionnaire on Tuesday in the athletic office and return by Thursday November 7 to the swimming box in the athletic office.

Social Event!  All Team Bonfire

This Friday, November 8th,  7pm-10pm  at the Swartz's home.  110 Nutt Road, park at the bottom of the parking lot at Christ the King Church and the bonfire will be in the back yard at the Swartz's.  Bring your soccer chair and dress weather appropriate.


We have been asked to provide 2 Volunteers for this Saturday's Football playoff game.  If you are able to volunteer, please go to VolunteerHub and sign up under Swim and Dive.  This volunteering will count towards your 6 work shifts.

Our first meet is almost all filled up with volunteers!  Thank you in advance to all who have signed up! 


Please remember to pick up your apparel at Deuce ASAP! 

If you still need an Elks suit (which is required for all swimmers and divers), please be sure to go to the apparel page in the Parent section of the website for info on how to order from Kastaway.

Transportation Info

Divers can take the Bus from the HS on Monday/Wednesday nights (Bus #80) to practice at the Rec Center if needed.

All athletes can take Bus#80 from the Rec Center after our morning practice leaving at 7:00am.

November 13th – OHSAA Mandatory Parent / Athlete Meeting – 6:30 – CHS Main Gym

Event Change

The meet scheduled on Saturday, January 11th vs. Upper Arlington has been changed.  It is now being held at Upper Arlington at 6 pm with warm-ups at 5 pm and will be attended by Divers and Varsity Swimmers.

Swim and Dive Team Special News

The following ten Class of 2014 Seniors on the Centerville Swim and Dive Team were inducted into the Centerville High School National Honor Society at an Induction Ceremony at the High School on October 16, 2013:

Amy Barchek, Kathleen Clark, Emma Curtis, Sara Gardner, Sophia Hoffman, Elizabeth Lewis, Jackie Nehrbass, Margaret Otto, Steven Quarin, and Madison Stout.

The 4 requirements for induction into the CHS National Honor Society are a commitment to Scholarship, with a 3.5 GPA or higher, outstanding Service to the Community, and proven Leadership and Character.  

Congratulations to these fine athletes and students!
