BCST Boys Stand Out at HS State

Congratulations to our high school boys as they wrapped up a tremendous season at this past weekend’s High School State Championships.  This event brings out the best in our HS boys, as the spirit and energy of the environment really charges them up. The winning 2A school (Archbishop Murphy), 3A school (Mercer Island) and 4A school (Newport) were littered with BC swimmers.

Over the 3 meets, BC Boys had 19 consolation finals swims, 27 championship finals swims, won 8 state titles, set 2 new HS State records, and 2 new BC records.  Not to mention the contribution BC swimmers made to their HS relays as well.

Things started off in the morning with the 4A boys.  Ed Kim became only the second HS swimmers in Washington State history to win 8 state titles (BC’s Ethan Hallowell is the only other).  Ed went out in style winning the 200 Free, and setting a new BC record in the 100 Free.

Next came the 2A boys. Austin Barnard lead off the  meet by winning the 200 Free.  Not to be outdone, his HS teammate Stephen Boden set a new 2A HS State record in the 200 IM, and he later went on to win the 500 Free as well.

The evening brought on the 3A swimmers.  Todd McCarthy won the 100 Fly with a new 3A HS State record.  Following that Todd went on to win the 100 Back in a new BC record. And Noah Deiparine helped his HS team win state by placing first in the boys 100 Free.

Here’s a list of all the swimmers who competed, we’re very proud of you!
