BCST 4th at SR Sectionals

SR Sectionals 2014

What a tremendous effort that was put forth by the BCST swimmers at this year’s SR Sectional meet.  990 swimmers and 160 teams from 10 states competed for 5 days in the most competitive and fastest of the Sectional meets in the country.  The 41 BCST swimmers were not daunted by the depth of talent the meet possesses, and in fact were battling it out with the best teams for supremacy.

Throughout the melee BCST was fighting with 4 other teams, KING, Scottsdale Aquatic Club, Tualatin Hills Swim Club, and Arizona Gold With many competitive races between the teams, BCST ended up 2nd in the boys, 6th in the girls and 4th in the combined, a mere 3.5 points behind 3rd. The amazing thing was that it all came down to the last event (400 Medley Relay) that ultimately determined our fate.

Along the way BCST swimmers set 14 new club records, 2 PNS records, and 2 Sectional records.  14 of the swimmers qualified for finals, 3 achieve 100% best times and we had 11 top 16 relays.  Ed Kim finished 2nd in the boys High Point award, and Kim Williams was 3rd in the girls High Point award.

Like I wrote above, this is the fastest Sectional meet in the country, to qualify is an impressive feat by itself.  I can’t tell you how proud the staff is of for the swimmer’s tremendous efforts this past weekend.   It took courage, it took guts, and thankfully we didn’t need our Butlers.
