Classics Results:

The Elks had remarkable results at the Southwest Ohio Classic over the weekend.  With over 3,000 athletes participating, it was an exciting and highly competitive meet!  Out of the 132 schools participating, the Boy’s team placed 4th overall and the Girl’s team placed 5th overall.  Swimmers who competed in finals at St. X on Saturday and Sunday night were:

Girls:  Nora Fullenkamp 2nd - 50 Free;  Emma King 10th and Maddie Eckley 12th - 200 Free;  King 5th and Nicole Swartz 12th – 500 Free;  Swartz 2nd – 1650 Free; Grace Hoffmann  7th – 100 Back and 8th - 200 Back; Fullenkamp 14th – 100 Breast; Sydney Sparks 15th – 200 Fly; King 11th and Hoffmann 14th – 200 IM; Swartz 9th and Hoffmann 12th – 400 IM; 200 Free Relay of King, Hoffmann, Swartz and Fullenkamp took 4th; 400 Free Relay of Fullenkamp, Eckley, King and Hoffmann took 3rd; 200 Medley Relay of Hoffmann Eckley, King and Fullenkamp took 5th; 400 Medley Relay of Hoffmann, Eckley, King and Fullenkamp took 6th

Boys:  Chris Quarin 4th and Dylan Curtis 9th – 50 Free; Curtis 2nd – 100 Free; Curtis 5th – 100 Back and 13th 200 Back; Quarin 9th and Nathaniel Lowry 11th – 100 Breast; Lowry 11th and Sam McCarthy 14th – 200 Breast; Quarin 4th – 100 Fly; Lowry 13th 200 IM; Lowry 11th and McCarthy 12th 400 IM; 200 Free Relay of Curtis, Lowry, McCarthy and Quarin took 9th; 400 Free Relay of Quarin, Austin Spruill, McCarthy and Curtis took 5th; 200 Medley Relay of Curtis, McCarthy, Quarin and Lowry took 3rd; 400 Medley Relay of Curtis, McCarthy, Spruill and Quarin took 5th.

On Saturday, the CHS Dive Team traveled to Mason for the Southwest Ohio Classics Prelims. The Girls were led by Katie Polk finishing in first place with a score of 271.30, Maddy Woods placed 2nd with a score of 243.25, Megan Kujawa, 17th, Breanna Gillespie 19th, and Noe Camp 20th. For the Boys, Noah Hickey took first place with a score of 255.35, Sam Wiedemann 3rd scoring 216.65 and Cody Heyne 12th. Both Katie Polk and Noah Hickey were automatic qualifiers for the Finals meet held on Sunday.

On Sunday, the CHS Dive Team traveled to the University of Cincinnati for the Finals 11 Dive Meet. Finishing in Second for the girls with a score of 488.75 was Katie Polk followed by Maddy Woods placing 3rd with a score of 443.50. Noah Hickey had a Personal Record, finishing in first place with a score of 504.20, Sam Wiedemann placed 7th.

Katie Polk, Maddy Woods and Noah Hickey are now placed on the Classic Dive Meet Top 10 Honor Roll after their performance on Sunday. For the Girls, Katie Polk now holds the 3rd best performance and  Maddy Woods holds the 9th best performance. For the boys, Noah Hickey holds the 4th best performance at Classic Finals.

Congratulations to all who competed in the largest high school meet in the nation!


A HUGE thank you to all of the parents that worked this weekend’s Classic meet.  It was a great success from a fundraising and operational perspective and we couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help!


Team Captains:  Please have your agreed upon t-shirt design for the upcoming District Meet submitted to Coach Launi for approval no later than Sunday, February 1st. Include your color preference along with choice of short or long sleeves with your design.


All Team Members:  GWOC and JV Championship T-shirts will be handed out at the WTRC to the entire team before the end of the week. More details to follow.
