Swim Practice this Week:

* This is the Senior Practice - the Senior Captains should prepare a practice schedule for this morning practice and submit it to Coach Launi by Thursday Feb 5th for her approval.


Dive Practice this Week:

We are entering the home stretch for volunteering! 

We need 1 volunteer for Wednesday night (Feb 4th) GWOC championship to time.  You get your entry free and will need to be there by 5:30.  If you are able to time, please contact Barb Swartz ([email protected]). 

Thank you to all who have volunteered for this Saturday’s JV Championship Meet.  Unfortunately, we are still short 5 timers for this meet.  This is the largest attended meet all season so if you want an upfront view of your swimmer, please volunteer to time!

We also need 1 more volunteer for Boys Sectional Meet which is Friday, February 13th and 4 Volunteers for Girls Sectional Meet which is Saturday, February 14th. Come and volunteer for sectionals and get your end of season banquet meal paid for!


Sectionals Good Luck

Its championship season time! Sectionals, is the first meet of the swim and dive post season and is rapidly approaching. Want to wish your swimmer or diver good luck and help them make it to districts? You can now order flowers or balloons from Creative Ties to be delivered to your athlete’s advisory on Thursday, February 12th. 

The carnations are offered in red, white, and pink and are $1 each or $10 for a dozen.  Latex balloons are available in almost any color (even black and gold), and are $1.50.  Mylar balloons that say “Good Luck” are also offered for $3.  Order forms can be found in this attachment.  The form along with money can be turned in as follows:

  1. Take to central office in an envelope marked Creative Ties – Nicole Swartz
  2. E-Mail the form to [email protected] and drop the money off at practice on Wednesday, February 11th.
  3. Give the order to Nicole Swartz at GWOC championship or at the JV GWOC Meet.

All orders are due by Wednesday, February 11th.

Let’s go Elks!  Boys are going for their 21st consecutive title and the Girls are going for their 20th consecutive title!


JV Invite Championship:

All swimmers that did not compete at the GWOC Conference Championship Meet on Saturday and  those Swimmers that competed Saturday but did not qualify for the GWOC Conference Meet (Wednesday) will swim at the JV Invite. Entries will be posted by Wednesday for all to review.

GWOC Dive Results:


The CHS Dive Team traveled to Trotwood on Thursday night and competed at GWOC's. The Girls were led by Senior Katie Polk finishing up in 1st place with a score of 286.15, followed by Senior Maddy Woods placing second with a score of 271.95. Megan Kujawa was 10th and Breonna Gillespie took 12th. For the Boys, in a tight finish Senior Noah Hickey placed 2nd with a score of 293.25 just missing first place by .10, Sam Wiedemann placed 4th, Austin Flaute 5th and Cody Heyne 13th.


Your 2015 GWOC First Team and Girls Champion is Centerville's own Senior Katie Polk. GWOC's Second Team is Senior Noah Hickey and Senior Maddy Woods. Congratulations to all the Divers!



GWOC Swim Results:

On Saturday, the GWOC Central competition was held at Trotwood Madison High School.  Both the Boys and Girls had remarkable swims and along with the divers won the GWOC Central Championship for the 14th year in a row.  The Lady Elks set new Central Division Meet Records in the 200 and 400 Free Relays breaking 11 year old records that had been set in 2004 by the Lady Elks team that won the State Championship in 2004. GWOC Central champions for the girls are Grace Hoffmann, Maddie Eckley, Emma King and Nora Fullenkamp in the 200 Medley Relay, Emma King 200 Free, Nora Fullenkamp 50 Free, Nicole Swartz 500 Free, Grace Hoffmann 100 Back, Grace Hoffmann, Maddie Eckley, Nora Fullenkamp, Nicole Swartz 200 Free Relay (Divisional Meet Record), Nora Fullenkamp, Grace Hoffmann, Maddie Eckley, Emma King 400 Free Relay (Divisional Meet Record).  GWOC Central Champions for the boys are Dylan Curtis, Sam McCarthy, Chris Quarin, Nathaniel Lowry 200 Medley Relay, Michael Sparks 200 Free, Dylan Curtis 50 Free, Austin Spruill 100 Fly, Dylan Curtis, Nathaniel Lowry, Sam McCarthy, Chris Quarin 200 Free Relay, Dylan Curtis 100 Back, Nathaniel Lowry 100 Breast, Austin Spruill, Michael Sparks, Jacob Brooks, Chris Quarin 400 Free Relay.


Wednesday will be the GWOC Conference Championship in Trotwood at 6 PM.  All the event winners above will be competing at the Conference Championship along with these other top 16 qualifiers:  Sarah Hippenmeyer, Sydney Sparks, Gabby Feldmeyer, Abby Gardner, Caroline Pierron, Shari Gordnier, Macy Cummings, Camille Butkus, Aliya Zimmerman, Erin Niederkohr, Matthew Kelleher, Cameron Frazier, Colin Beach, Jacob Steiner, Alex Pickrel, Thomas Hecker, Sam Wiedemann.  Congratulations to all these talented swimmers and Good Luck on Wednesday!


Varsity Dinner:



The Varsity Dinner is held each year to congratulate our newest Varsity Swimmers & Divers.  This dinner event is open to all athletes and their families.  The captains host the evening and it is the team’s opportunity to not only celebrate our new varsity but get the team energized for the upcoming District meet!  All must pay and RSVP unless you are a new Varsity athlete.  Please click on this link for the Varsity Dinner Invitation to be filled out and mailed to the address listed.  Checks are to be made out to “CHS Swim and Dive”.
