Haley Beranbaum to Rio for 2016 Summer Paralympics

Haley Beranbaum of Snohomish, WA is a first-time Paralympian but a long-time Team USA star. At the 2011 ParaPan Am Games, Haley broke an American record that was set the year that she was born, and at the 2015 ParaPan Am Games, Haley medaled in five individual events. Haley will swim the 200 IM and the 50 butterfly in Rio.

Haley is leaving Colorado Springs tomorrow to head to Houston Texas where the U.S. Paralympic Swimming Team will be meeting for a training camp leading up to their departure for Rio on September 2nd.  Haley will be representing the U.S.A in 2 events for sure, the 50m S5 Butterfly and the 200m SM5 IM.  It is possible that she will swim additional events as the full roster is eligible to be used in Relay events but we know she will swim the other 2 events for sure.

If people want to send messages of encouragement to the athletes they will be setting up an area in the athletes village that they travel through daily to print and post them so if anyone from PNS would like to send Haley a message just send to jaime.martin@usoc.org
