Monday Memo – November 16, 2009

Thank you, Thank you Aqua Jets!  We collected 208 cans for the Jesus Center canned food drive.  I am so appreciative of you all for giving and caring about the hungry in Chico.  JILL
Arctic Challenge Championships held in Woodland on December 4th - 6th - Enter on line today at ome.swimconnection.com Meet sheets are available on the cart. PLEASE ENTER THIS MEET IMMEDIATELY. It is very likely to fill and close! Mail in entries must be in the mail by Nov. 25, on line entries will close on Nov. 24th. This is a great championship meet for every swimmer on our team. All swimmers can participate. This is a team championship meet, we would like to bring a big team. You can go for all three days or choose one or two days. We have a block of rooms at the Best Western Shadow Inn in Woodland. The rate for the standard room is $83.70 per night. To make reservations call 666-1251, please ask for a room in the Chico AquaJets block. The block will be released on November 25th.

Practice Schedule Next Week – We will have an abbreviated practice schedule next week. It will be emailed out tomorrow.

Change for PreSeniors in Winter Practice Schedule White Group – 3:30 to 4:15 pm, Navy Group – 3:30 to 4:30 pm, PreSenior Group – 4:15 to 5:45 pm, Senior Group – 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and MiniJets – T & TH 3:45 to 4:15 pm FRIDAY PRACTICE SCHEDULE: White Group 3:30 to 4:15 pm, Navy 3:30 to 4:30 pm., PreSenior 4:15 to 5:45 pm, and Senior 4:15 to 6:00 pm. The winter practice schedule will go through March of next year. 

Pizza Night is this Wednesday– November 18th- PIZZA NIGHT is at Woodstock's Pizza with festivities beginning at 6:00 pm. You can start ordering pizza at 5:30 pm. This is a fundraiser for the team. Please give them the Woodstock's flyer when ordering. We will give out Swimmer of the Month certificates, raffle prizes, and share information on upcoming events.

We will have an abbreviated practice schedule on Wednesday because of Pizza Night.The White and Navy groups will swim from 3:30 to 4:15, PreSeniors will swim from 4:15 to 5:15, and the Seniors will swim from 4:15 to 5:30 pm.

Personalized Cap Order– We are doing another personalized cap order this week. The caps will be in by the holidays. All orders must be turned in by this Wednesday, November 18theither into the Limberg file or to Jennifer Limberg at Pizza Night.

Christmas Tree Sale -We are doing the Christmas Tree Sale again this year. It was a successful, easy fundraiser last year and we all loved the trees. Order forms can be found in the file box. The trees are beautiful 6 to 7 foot tall Fraser Fir trees grown at a Christmas tree farm in Corvallis, Oregon. The trees will be cut just days before they are delivered. The purchase price is $40 per tree with approximately 50% of the purchase price going to the Chico AquaJets. The trees must be preordered and paid for in advance as we are only purchasing trees that we have received payment for.All checks should be made payable to CAJ and must be turned in to the drop file with the order form by December 2nd.  2010 Crab Feed – Saturday, February 6th– Please mark the date on your calendar. More info will be available next week.

Polar Bear Club The coaches will take roll at every practice starting in November through the end of February. All swimmers have a goal for practice attendance. Swimmers who meet their goal are inducted into the Chico AquaJets Polar Bear Club at the March Pizza Night. The Polar Bear Club members are awarded with a special award. The deal with attendance: Swimmers must swim at each practice, senior swimmers can swim with morning or evening masters and it will count as a practice that day, each day swum at a swim meet will count as bonus attendance days. Please don't bring sick kids to the pool. It is a good idea to get some extra days in early to make up for unforeseen illness and family vacations.  Practice attendance goals: 6 & un 55%, 7 & 8 60%, 9 & 10 65%, 11 & 12 70%, 13 to 18 75%.

Sierra Nevada Swimming Awards Banqueton Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 6:00-9:00pm at the Arden Hills Resort Club and Spa, the cost is   $15per person  or $18 per person at the door. The banquet will feature a guest speaker, recognize swimmer and coach of the year, and give top three awards in each age group. Registration and more information can be found at sn-swimming.org.
