October 2009
Happy Halloween!
Swimmers of the Month:
Yellow: Alisha Vasanji is new this season but
has shown great listening skills in practice and always gives her
best.
White: Alexander Biz - Alex has been working
hard at practice in all areas; swim sets, drills and kicking. He
has stepped up to be a leader in his lane.
Green: Alex Sokol. Alex comes ready to work hard and best of all
pay attention. He is a great example in the pool and is always
eager to lead.
Red Group: Brian Cicoletti is new to the team
and has been amazing to coach. Not only does he love to
work hard, but he even wishes practices were longer! He has also
participated at the Saturday am practices.
Purple: Lauren Smith and Dillon Punchihewa have
had excellent attendance at practices and has worked their hardest
in dry land training and in the pool. They rarely stop during work
outs and are always trying to improve their strokes.
Blue: Chris Scheaffer has had 100% attendance
for the month of September! Not only has he been at every practice
he has been one of our hardest workers everytime. Way to go
Chris!
Cooper Burrill gets the runner up spot for
attendance and he is looking like a stud in the water too. I think
we'll see big things from these two this season!
Masters: Joe Becker has been to nearly every
mid-morning practice this past month. He has even
"overstayed" is daily quota and has swam past 10am many
times.
Swim-a-thon Fri 10/2:
The swim-a-thon is more than just a fund raiser. It is a chance
for our swimmers to see how far they can go in the water and then
hang out with their teammates out of the water. This is the perfect
opportunity for new swimmers to get acquainted with their
teammates. Thank you very much to all of you who participated in
this very important event for our team!
This month's meet:
The Morgan Hill CBA+ 10/1--10/11 is our first
team meet of the season! Signups are closed for the meet so make
sure to sign up now for ALMA's November meet now.
The 2008-2009 Meet Schedule can now be
seen under the meets tab on our website:

A huge Awards Night thank you
from the coaches to the captains and those of you who supported
those very thoughtful and generous gifts!
A very special thank you to Franck
Ergas for putting together a wonderful slide show; loved the
soundtrack! Big Thank yous to all of our swim and spirit committee
members for all the work you do to make ALMA what it is. A special
thank you to our swim committee president Mark Scannell for all the
time he put in to helping run the team and his wizardry with
graphics during his tenure. The team had a great run under his
tenure with an SBSL championship and the hosting of an outstanding
Far Westerns. Finally, thank you to ALMA's coaches, stroke and turn
judges, and Pacific Swimming/Zone volunteers for keeping our team
well respected in the swimming community.
