Meet Protocol

1.  All swimmers must check in with a coach before and after their races.

2.  Swimmers are expected to stay focused on swimming fast and minimize walking, sunbathing, etc., until they have finished their last event.

3.  Blue or Silver BEAR Team caps must be worn for ALL races except finals, when yellow BEAR Finals caps should be worn if available.

4.  BEAR Team Suits or a plain Navy competition suit should be worn for all races.

5.  When not preparing for their own events, swimmers are expected to remain in the team area and support their teammates.

6.  All swimmers are expected to swim their scheduled races in full, unless excused by a coach.

7.  All swimmers are expected to stay at a meet until the final race is over, unless excused by a coach.

8.  In the case of Trial and Final Meets, all swimmers are required to attend each finals session in full unless excused by the Head Coach. All swimmers are responsible to check whether they made finals. Most meets care a heavy penalty for missing a final – such as, being disqualified from the rest of the meet or up to a $50 fine.

9.  It is expected that swimmers represent their team with the same aggressive determination in the consolation final as in the championship final. Unless excused by the Head Coach or by the Assistant Coach with the Head Coach permission, swimmers may not scratch from any final.

10.  All team members will be expected to demonstrate proper respect for the American Flag and the National Anthem. In other words, take off your hat and stop talking.
