Dual Meets:
• Coaches will post entries
on Thursday at the east end of the pool. They will also give the
entries to Age-group Coordinators to send to families by email. If
you do not receive it, check with your Age-group Coordinator.
• Swimmers should make sure they double check with their coach
to confirm if they will be at the Saturday meet.
• If you do not know what events to swim (especially youngest
kids), consult with your coach.
• All swimmers may not get to swim all of their preferred
events. We have a large team and will make every effort to
accommodate each swimmer.
• Who gets to swim in which event is generally based on best
times with the final decision by the head coaches. Any questions
should be directed toward Curt. These are our priorities in order
of importance:
- Preparation for the Championship
meet at the end of the season
- Mesa meet
- Attendance at practice
- Coach and swimmer agreeing to
experiment with a new stroke
- Coaches will generally swim the
three fastest swimmers in the first heat.
• If a swimmer in a later heat
has a faster time, they will be given the opportunity to swim in
the faster heat at the next meet.
• Depending on the pool and the opponent, the number of heats
in an event may be limited. By league rules, only the short
freestyle events (event #s 21-30) are guaranteed unlimited
heats.
• Elk’s home meets will always try to have a minimum of
two heats per event if we have the swimmers.
• League rules also limit each swimmer to three (3) individual
events and two (2) relays per meet. Only individual events are
scored for “High Point”.
• Relays: In general, the four fastest swimmers will make up
the relays each week. Places on the relays may change from week to
week, based on competition and practice times. The final decision
of who swims rests with the coaches.
• If the meet starts at 8:00am, swimmers should be at the
pool, ready to warm-up at 7:00am.
• If the meet starts at 7:30am, swimmers should be at the
pool, ready to warm-up at 6:30am
• Swimmers entered in the medley relays may be scratched if
they are not timely for warm-ups.
Scoring and
Ribbons
• Only swimmers in the first
heat can score points and place, with the exception of the short
freestyle events (#s 21-30).
• A team can score points for all three (3) places in relay
events.
• Most meets will award ribbons for places 1 through 6 in
individual events and 1 through 3 in relays.
• BEST home meets will award ribbons for places 1 to 12 in
individual events and 1 to 6 for relays.
• At away meets, swimmers finishing in the top 6 are awarded
ribbons only.
• Ribbons are available for pick-up by Tuesday after the swim
meet in the swimmer’s ribbon box at the Elks pool.

Pre-Team Meets
• For the third year, we will have two Pre-Team
Only Meets on Wednesday evenings
• No entries at the Saturday home or away meets, only the
Wednesday meets
• Pre-teamers can swim one, two, three or four individual
events at the Wednesday meet.
• No relays. Ribbons for all swimmers.
• We expect to have two other club’s pre-teams join us
at each Wednesday meet.
• The meet last about an hour (6pm to 7pm)
• Pre-Team parents will be expected to volunteer for these
meets and not the Saturday meets
• Boulder CC had so much fun at our meet last year they have
invited us to a pre-team meet at their pool on TBD (see calendar
for updates). Warm-up starts at 5:30 pm. The format should be
fairly similar. Just show up. Check with the coaches the week
prior.
