6 ISA Athletes Selected for the 2009 Canada Summer Games

 
 

Six Island Swimming athletes have been choosen to represent BC at the 2009 Canada Summer Games in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, August 15 - 29.   Congratulations to Jeremy Bagshaw, Craig Dagnall, Grayson Repp, Cassie Morrice, Alec Page, and Para-Swimmer, Nick Lapointe.   The team will be coached by Coach Neil Harvey. 

   

 
 

ISA Men break the SC Canadian Record in the 4x200 Free Relay

 
 

The Island Swimming mens’ team broke the short course Canadian Record in the 4x200 Freestyle Relay at the SC National Championships in March, 2009!

Gold for ISA Paralympic Swimmers

 
 

Congratulations to Brianna, Nate and Peter on their gold medal performances at the 2009 Spring Can-Am Swimming Nationals. 

Brianna Nelson won the 50m freestyle and 400m freestyle in the S7 category. 

Nate Schwartz won the 400m freestyle in the S6 category.

Peter Havers won the 100m Breaststroke in the SB6 category.

    
   
 
 

2009 Jr. Pan Pacific Championships in Guam

 
 

Congratulations to Craig Dagnall, Jeremy Bagshaw and Coach Neil Harvey.  All three have been selected to represent Canada at the 2009 Jr. Pan Pacific Championships in Guam January 8-9, 2009. 

This is a great opportunity to race some of the best 18 & under swimmers in the world.  Canada’s 26 member team will be racing  Australia, China, USA, Japan, New Zealand, Bermuda, Mexico, Guam, El Salvador and Costa Rica.  read more ...

Ryan Cochrane, Bronze Medalist 2008 Olympic Games 



    


 

Island Swimming’s  Ryan Cochrane set a new Olympic record in the 1500m Freestyle
at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing with a time of 14:40.84
In finals, Ryan showed incredible tenacity as he held off the fourth place 
Russian swimmer, Prilukov Yuriy, to win the only swimming medal for Canada.

Island Swimming Wins the Men’s Team Title
at 2008 Summer Nationals

 
 

 

 
 

Island Swimming claimed the Men’s team title at the 2008 Summer Nationals, and becomes the first team since 1982 (26 Years!) to take the Men’s title from University of Calgary Swim Club or the University of British Columbia. IS finished the meet with 652 pts, followed by UBCD (498pts), and UCSC (461pts).   Way to go guys, You Rock!
