Meet Our Coaching Staff

Chris Henderson
Head Coach
(National & Provincial Development, Senior)
Shannon Cunningham Development Coach
(Provincial Development, Squad 1, Squad 2)

I grew up in Georgetown and swam for HHBF from 1996-2001. I raced at the national level and made a number of provincial and national finals. I attended the University of Waterloo, as well as Renison College, and swam for a brief time at UW, while graduating with a Degree in Social Development Studies, as well as a Diploma of Social Work. I started coaching with HHBF in 2008/09 alongside Paralympic Team Canada Coach Mike Thompson and together we built HHBF into a competitive team. I took over as head coach in 2012/13 and since then, with the help of Coach Shannon, we have re-written the record boards, grown the club in size and depth, and created a progressive program that embraces the Long Term Athlete Development program set out by Swimming Canada. My philosophy is: HAPPY HEALTHY SWIMMERS, SWIM FAST! I believe we need to have our athletes passionate about the sport and keep them healthy through rest, recovery and nutrition. My passions off the deck include my family (wife and three little girls), advocating for physical fitness, researching nutrition, and the key it plays to health and athletics, as well as running ultra marathons (100 milers) with my brother in law! Feel free to talk to me about whatever is on your mind. See you at the pool.

I was born in London Ontario, but grew up on the beaches of Sarasota, Florida. This is where my love of the water began. I started my competitive swimming with the Sarasota YMCA Sharks were I had the opportunity to be a multi event qualifier and finalist competing in the YMCA Nationals, Florida All Stars and Junior Olympics. While competing with my local team I also swam with my high school swim team (Riverview High School) and was a state qualifier all four years focusing in the 100m backstroke. Throughout my tenure with the Sharks and Riverview Rams, I learned the fundamentals of hard work, dedication both in and out of water, and the importance of transferring these lessons to my daily life. I completed an Associates degree from UCF in Orlando then moving to Ontario I graduated in 2009-2010 with a degree Visual and creative arts degree from Sheridan College. For five years I worked with the Atlantis School of Swim in Oakville. I began as a youth swim instructor and while I still spend time in the pool in a teaching role, I quickly became on-deck supervisor, in no small part thanks to my extensive swimming background. In 2013 I joined the Blue Fins team where I continue to teach the joy and passion for competitive swimming as I had enjoyed as a young child.

Brianna Motluk
Intro Coach
(IntroComp, IntroABC & Mini Fins)

I first moved to Georgetown when I was 5. That same year I was first put into swimming lessons because The Little Mermaid was my favourite movie. Thinking I could swim like Ariel, I ran and jumped into the deep end where the lifeguards had to come and fish me out. I never lost my joy of the water, competing in high school as both a synchronized swimmer and for the GDHS Rebel Swim Team. I became a lifeguard in 2004, and I have been a coach for the Town of Halton Hills Lifeguard Club since 2012. I have a Bachelors in History from the University of Guelph, a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management from Fleming College and a Diploma in Recreation from Canadore College. I am looking forward to bringing my joy of swimming to those I will be coaching.
