Below is the schedule for November 16, 2009 -
February 13, 2010 .
Stroke Team
Clovis Swim Club offers two levels of Stroke Team: Seahorse and
Stingray.
Seahorse is a group for the novice
swimmer. The first two strokes, freestyle and backstroke, are
the focus of this group. Athletes work on proper stroke
technique as well as starts and turns appropriate for these
strokes. Athletes are also introduced to breaststroke and
butterfly minimally. After the athlete has
mastered freestyle and backstroke they progress to the
Stingray level.
Stingray is a level that continues stroke
technique in freestyle and backstroke, but focuses on the final two
competitive strokes of breaststroke and butterfly. Athletes
focus on proper stroke technique, appropriate turns and race starts
for these competitive strokes. The final step is to introduce
athletes to the Individual Medley (IM); a race in which all four
competitive strokes are utilized in a specific order of butterfly,
backstroke, breaststroke then freestyle.
After the athlete has a firm grasp of all four
competitive strokes, is able to complete a 300 yard (12 laps)
freestyle and a 200 IM (8 laps: two of each stroke), the athlete
progresses into the Bronze group; our first competitive level.

Bronze Group-
This is our intro- to- competition group. The focus is
still on proper stroke technique, but also on developing endurance
and speed. It is strongly recommended that swimmers begin
attending sanctioned competitions at this level and are
encouraged to develope a value for goal setting and
personal improvment.
Clovis West Bronze Group Coach: Jennifer Palmberg
Workout Days/Times: Monday - Friday 5:00 to 6:15pm and
Saturdays from 10:00- 11:30am. (Please note that there are no
Saturday practices on the weekends of scheduled competitions.

Clovis East Bronze Group Coach: Abby Winters
Workout Days/Times: Mon., Tues,
Thurs, Fri. 4:45-6:00pm at Clovis High. On
Wednesdays and Saturdays all practices are held at
Clovis West following the Clovis West practice
schedule. These combined practices allow athletes to
familiarize themselves with athletes and coaches from our
different sites and promotes team unity. (Please note
that there are no Saturday practices on the weekends of scheduled
competitions)

Silver Group
From the Bronze group, athletes move into this group. Athletes
in this group have demonstrated advaced skills in all four
competitive strokes, an ability to set and acheive personal goals,
a drive to train and compete and usually have accomplished at least
one J.O. time standard in a race.
Clovis West Coach: Ben

Workout Days/Times: Monday - Friday from 5:30-
7:00pm and Saturdays from 10- 11:30am. (Please note that there
are no Saturday practices on the weekends of scheduled
competitions)
Clovis East Silver Group Coach: Rich Petzinger
Workout Days/Times: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri. from
5:30 - 7:00pm at Clovis High. On Wednesdays and
Saturdays all practices are held at Clovis West following
the Clovis West practice schedule. These combined
practices allow athletes to familiarize themselves with
athletes and coaches from our different sites and
promotes team unity. (Please note that there are no
Saturday practices on the weekends of scheduled competitions)

Gold Group
From the Silver group, athletes move into this group. Athletes
in this group are usually at least 10 years old and have completed
the Silver Group move-up skills list. This group is exposed to
advanced training for the first time while trying to prepare for
State and National Level Competitions.
Clovis West Gold Group Coach: An Baxter
Workout Days/Times: Monday - Friday 5:15-6:45pm, Saturdays from
8-10am. (Please note that there are no Saturday practices on
the weekends of scheduled competitions)
Clovis High Gold Group Coach: Rich Petzinger
Workout Days/Times: Mon, Tues, Thurs. Fri. 5:30-
7:15pm at Clovis High. On Wednesdays and
Saturdays all practices are held at Clovis West following
the Clovis West practice schedule. These combined
practices allow athletes to familiarize themselves with
athletes and coaches from our different sites and
promotes team unity. (Please note that there are no Saturday
practices on the weekends of scheduled competitions)
Pre-Senior
The intensity of Gold level training is expanded into a two hour
practice to prepare athletes for Senior level training. An
athlete’s sense of personal goals and responsibiliy to train
diligently to reach those goals is stressed. These athletes
are expected to enter them selves into competition as well as
select their own events.
Clovis West Pre-Senior Group Coach: An Baxter
Workout Days/Times: Monday - Friday 5:15-7:15pm, Saturdays from
8-10am. There is no Pre-Senior group offered at
Clovis High at this time. (Please note that there are no
Saturday practices on the weekends of scheduled competitions)
Senior
Minimum age for entry into this group is 13.
Athletes entering the Senior Group must display a strong
desire to perform at the highest level possible. Training is
geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic
endurance factor is present.
Clovis West Senior Group

Dwidar.
Workout Days/Times: Monday- Friday 3:15- 5:15 p.m. and
Saturdays from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m.
Buchanan Senior Group Coach: Dave Pickford

Elite
Elite group Coach is Head Coach John McGough.
