Learn-to-Swim & other Recreation Program Policies

Class Cancelation Policy: Participants will be notified if there is a change in the date/location of the class or if the class is canceled. Minnetonka Aquatics reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. Minnetonka Aquatics confirms registrations via email, please be sure to enter the correct email address when creating your account.

Refund Policy: Full refunds are given when Minnetonka Aquatics cancels a class. Refunds, less a $10 cancellation fee, will be given when a registration is withdrawn at least 5 business days before the start date of the class. If a participant cancels within one to three of the sessions completed classes, a prorated refund will be issued. If a participant cancels after four or more lessons no refunds will be issued.

Waitlist Policy: Classes are filled on a first-come, first serve basis. Waitlists are formed when the number of participants exceeds the preset amount allowed in each class. Registrants are encouraged to register for an alternate class, as there is no guarantee that a waitlist will be cleared. Minnetonka Learn-to-Swim staff actively manage all waitlisted classes and will work to add instructors or offer additional classes to accommodate waitlists. If you are moved off of a waitlist you will be contacted via phone or e-mail regarding this change and your card will be charged immediately. If you are not contacted by the first night of a session, you are not registered for a class in which you are waitlisted and will not be charged.

Late Registration Policy: Classes will stay open until 2 classes have been completed, after this time classes will not be available for registration. Participants may register after a session has started with no prorated rate.

Make-Up Classes: Minnetonka Aquatics does not offer make-up classes or refunds/credits for individual or group lessons due to swimmer absence. If your lessons is canceled due to a Minnetonka Aquatics or weather related incident we will schedule a makeup class if schedules permit. If this is the case you will be notified of a makeup class via email.

Parents on Deck Policy: Parents are only allowed in the building if they are getting in the water with their child during private lessons. For the parents who are just dropping your kids off, we ask that you wait in your car in the parking lot in case of emergencies.

Level Change Policy: During the first class instructors and coaches assess each and every participant’s skills. If instructors/coaches feel a swimmer/diver is not in the right level a Minnetonka Aquatics staff member will contact you via phone. While every effort will be made to accommodate all families, the new class may not be offered at the same time/date. If you have questions about your child’s level placement please talk to their instructor or on deck coordinator.

Lock Up/Pick Up Policy: Locker rooms & the pool deck must be cleared within 15 minutes upon the completion of the last program of the day. 15 minutes after the last program of the day participants must be picked up. If participants are consistently at the pool longer than 15 minutes after the last program Minnetonka Aquatics will contact families and initiate a staffing fee for participants.

Locker Room Policy: Locker rooms are only open for bathroom emergencies. Please try to use the bathroom before coming to your lesson. There will be no changing in the locker rooms or on deck. 

Social Media Policy: Minnetonka Aquatics uses social media to promote activities and inform participants. While using social media Minnetonka Aquatics follows these guidelines:

  • Participants names will not be used in social media posts. 
  • Location settings are not to be enabled in real time. Those scrolling social media should not know the location of participants in real time. 

Lifeguard, CPR, & Safety Training Certification Policies

Class Cancelation Policy: Participants will be notified if there is a change in the date/location of the class, if the class is canceled or if the class is full. Minnetonka Aquatics confirms registrations via email, please be sure to enter the correct email address when creating your account.

Refunds, less a $10 cancellation fee, will be given when a registration is withdrawn at least 5 business days before the start date of the class.  If a participant cancels the class within 24 hours of the start of the first class session, no refunds will be issued. Participants who do not pass the class, no refund will be issued.    ***Please Note: Participants who do not pass the pre-requisite swim tests will not be provided with a refund. Participants are also required to attend all days and all hours of the class to be eligible for certification.  

Waitlist Policy: Classes are filled on a first-come, first serve basis. Waitlists are formed when the number of participants exceeds the preset amount allowed in each class. Due to instructor to patron safety ratio and equipment ratio no additonal spots will be added to the class. There is no guarantee that a waitlist will be cleared, if a spot does open up - you will be contacted via e-mail regarding this change. You will have 12 hours to respond to the email to accept the open spot in the class. Your card will not be charged until a confirmation email is sent from Minnetonka Aquatics staff . If you are not contacted by the first night of the class, you are not registered for the class in which you are waitlisted and will not be charged.

Late Registration Policy: There is no late registration for Lifeguard, CPR, or Safety Training classes. Registration will close once the first class session has started.
