We are always open to new
members
Swimmers are welcome to join our team at any time. Our Junior
Dolphin groups have three sessions per year, beginning in
September, January, and March, but have assessments each week. For
an assessment please contact our registrars at
registrar@winskilldolphins.org
What to
wear?
Swimmers must come to the assessment session ready to swim. This
includes:
- Proper swim training attire. Baggy shorts or
’beach wear’ are discouraged, if you do not own
anything else don’t buy a suit as you’ll receive one on
registration. Email
us if you are unsure what this means.
- Goggles
- A swim cap if your child’s hair is long
enough to get in their eyes.
What to
expect?
Evaluations will determine if the child is ready
for organized swimming, and which of our training groups would be
most appropriate for them. All activities are age appropriate and
simulate what athletes will experience in actual
sessions.
Why should my
child swim?
There are many benefits to
getting your child involved in competitive swimming,
including:
- Swimming promotes physical
development.
- Swimming develops aerobic endurance and is
one of the most beneficial forms of cardiovascular
exercise.
- Swimming enhances a child’s natural
flexibility and promotes muscle development.
- Swimming develops superior
coordination.
- Swimming is the most injury-free of all
children’s sports.
- Swimming is a sport that will bring children
fitness and enjoyment for life.
- Swimming promotes time management and is one
of the top academically achieving sports.
Generally, our entry level groups
are;
Junior Dolphins (11 & Under), and Conditioning
and Technique (12 & Over).
