Regional group swimmers must be able to swim
the 200m Individual Medley in less than four minutes. This
qualifies them for the LMR (Lower Mainland Regional) level swim
meets.
The
regional group focuses on learning the finer points of training (learning to train) like using the pace clock,
swimming in a lane with other athletes etc. They maintain their
focus on the individual medley events as they work their way up the
Swim BC ’A’, ’AA’, and
’AAA’ cuts to qualify for the BC Provincial
Championships held each year at the end of February (for the short
course - 25m pool, winter meet) and the beginning of July (for the
long course - 50m pool, summer meet).
These swimmers swim 4 times per week with about one swim meet
per month. Our expectation of the swimmers is that they are able to
attend all four workouts, although at this level they should also
be participating in other sports.
Regional group swimmers need to come to each practice prepared
to swim with their suit, WDSC cap, goggles and equipment bag, which
should contain Flippers, Pull Bouy (probably a jr. size), Finger
Paddles and a Front Mount Snorkel.
For swim meets the swimmers will should wear their provided
Speedo brand WDSC suit, WDSC team cap, a team t-shirt. A hoody is
also a good idea. To order any team or training equipment please
send an email to
equipment@winskilldolphins.org .

Not all swimmers will attend all the swim meets on the plan.
