Provincial Group

Once the swimmers achieve their "AAA" Provincial qualifying times they are eligible for the Provincial training group.

2008 vpsc invtational In the Provincial group athletes begin to train for fitness (training to train). While still focusing on the medley they expand to more frequently include the 200m stroke events, the 400m individual medley and the distance (400m, 800m and 1500m) freestyle events. Openwater options can be explored in the summer as well. As they improve they begin to work their way towards the Swimming Canada Age-Group National Qualifying times, and SNC Western Qualifying times. As they progress to these meets where they will be competing against the best swimmers their age in Canada they may transition into the National group.

These swimmers train about 7 times per week with about two competitions per month. Our expectation of the swimmers is that they are able to attend all workouts, at this point they may also be participating in one other sport.

Provincial group swimmers need to come to each practice prepared to swim with their suit, WDSC cap, goggles and equipment bag, which should contain Flippers, Pull Bouy, Finger Paddles, Hand Paddles (Strokemaker brand) and a Front Mount Snorkel.

2008 vpsc invtational For swim meets the swimmers will should wear their Speedo brand suit, WDSC team cap, a team t-shirt. A hoody is also a good idea. When competing at Provincial level meets and out of the province the swimmers will need to wear their UBC Dolphin t-shirt, cap and track jacket. A parka is also recommended for travel to and from the pool. To order any team or training equipment please send an email to equipment@winskilldolphins.org .
