Our top training group - the National group -
consists of girls who have their
Swimming Canada Western cuts, and boys who have their Western
or
Age-Group national cuts.
These
swimmers are now training to compete with their weekly, monthly
and seasonal cycles preparing them for specific meets at the
National or Junior International level. They must be committed to
swimming at this point as their training is extensive and varied.
These swimmers train about 9 times per week with about two
competitions per month. Swimmers in the National group are expected
to attend all workouts, or make-up a practice that they are unable
to be at.
National group swimmers come to each practice prepared to swim
with their suit, WDSC cap, goggles and equipment bag, which should
contain Flippers, Pull Bouy, Finger Paddles, Hand Paddles
(Strokemaker brand), a Front Mount Snorkel as well as a Band and
stick.
For
swim meets the swimmers will should wear a Speedo brand suit, WDSC
team cap, a team t-shirt. A hoody is also a good idea. When
competing at Provincial level meets and out of the province the
swimmers will need to wear their UBC Dolphin t-shirt, cap and track
jacket. A parka is also recommended for travel to and from the
pool. To order any team or training equipment please send an email
to
equipment@winskilldolphins.org .
