From Club President

From the Interim Club President

As interim President I am pleased to welcome all new and returning Keyano Swim Club members to another swim year.  At Keyano, we embrace and are guided by Swim Alberta’s values of Excellence, Integrity, Innovation and Collaboration and judging from the successes experienced in the last swim season, we must doing things right! Looking forward, the 2009-2010 season promises to be exciting, fast and fun!

I would like to thank Cheryl Wall for her hard work and dedication in the last two years as our esteemed President.  She, thankfully, will continue on our board as Past President where we will appreciate her expertise.  The club has definitely grown and improved under Cheryl’s leadership and we hope to continue with the momentum. Our board is currently “under renovations” as we are re-organizing our governance to be more effective and efficient.  Look for a message regarding this restructuring in early September.

Keyano is recognized as a high performance club that focuses on what is best for the swimmers and their goals. I would like to encourage you to all to enjoy the legacy of this club, shaped by the hard work and dedication of many volunteers, coaches and, of course, swimmers. Equally, I hope that you seize the opportunities in the upcoming year to further build EKSC. Every year we stress the importance of volunteers in our club.  Each volunteer job is essential to offering the best possible environment for our swimmers. When you register, or when our volunteer coordinator contacts you, please step forward and contribute.

We are in the business of creating top-level athletes.  Every step, from our Development 3 group to our National level swimmers, is important in their growth.  After being involved with my kids in this sport for 5 years, I am well aware that it is not always easy. Things can get hectic with practices and swim meets having to be woven into the routine of school and family.  However, I also know that it is worth it!  My kids love this sport and they are already looking forward to getting back in the water. I am proud to be part of a club where families and coaches are so keenly committed to the development of our youth.  Together we can make this season spectacular! Go Bears!  GO!
