2009-10 Fall/Winter Practice Groups
The “9
Level–Ladder” is a progressive training model designed
for the GRYM - Marlins Swim Team. It’s primary objective is
to help every swimmer, novice to senior, realize their full
swimming potential and long-term goals. There are 3 groups:
Senior, Junior and Novice, with each group consisting of 3 separate
levels. Please click on links below for details of each
level.
The following
“human factors” were considered in the development of
this training model:
- Maturity level
of participating swimmers
- Growth and
development needs of participating
swimmers
- Psychological
needs of participating swimmers
- Skill level of
participating swimmers
- Social needs,
as it relates to the grouping of participating
swimmers
- Motivational
needs of participating swimmers
- Individual
goals of participating swimmers
* There will
be a number of social activities planned for the swimmers
throughout the year.
Each practice
group will be charged for Program Fees , USA Swimming Registration
Fee ($57), Marlins Team Dues, and an initial payment for
the ’USA
Deposit - Escrow Account’ which covers the
swimmer’’s meet entry fees. These charges differ by
team level unless noted.
In addition,
each swimmer must be a member of the YMCA either through a Family
Membership or by payment of a separate annual Youth Membership fee
($125).
Videotaping
Commencing in
early September, all Junior 3 to Senior 1 swimmers will be
videotaped above and below water, in all four strokes. Upon
completion, swimmers will have their strokes critiqued by a member
of the Marlin’s coaching staff and an individualized "plan of
action" will be put into place to rectify any technical errors
found.
A second
videotaping session will take place prior to the start of the long
course season.
Videotaping
for Novice 1 swimmers will commence in early October.
Ongoing stroke
development and refinement is one of our top
priorities!
