Mission
Statement
The Clearwater Aquatic Team will
be the premier swim club in Florida committed to the personal
development of our members through competitive
swimming.
To achieve this
vision, we will:
- Strive to develop the full potential of
each athlete regardless of his or her innate natural ability
- Encourage an atmosphere of team unity in
which coaches, athletes, and parents all contribute to team
success
- Foster a policy on racial
nondiscrimination at all times, and at all levels
- Develop team financial resources in order
to maximize the quality of programs and coaching available to all
swimmers
- Project a positive team image to the
community in order to increase team participation and community
support
- Stress sportsmanship and teamwork through
team spirit and mutual support
- Prepare swimmers to compete successfully
at local, state, national, and international levels of competition
in accordance with the rules of the governing body of the
sport.
History
The Clearwater Aquatic Team was founded in
the 1970’s and evolved by 1990 into the current program which
includes Age Group, Senior, High School, and Masters
programs.
The team practices at
the
Doyle
Center
for Aquatics at the Long
Center. CAT has long been recognized as a premiere local and
national team. In its history, CAT has had state Junior
Olympic champions, National Top 16 swimmers, National Age Group
record holders, High School All Americans, Masters world record
holders, Junior National champions, Senior National finalists,
Olympic Trials qualifiers, and a US Open champion.
As a team, CAT has won the state 14-under
Junior Olympic Championships four times. Throughout its
existence, CAT has been known as a program that has success both in
its age group program and its senior and masters
program.
