Jimmy Miller

JIMMY MILLER was the original leader in the establishment of an AGE Group Swimming Program in Arkansas in the late 1950’s. He coached the Little Rock Boy’s Club swimming team for some 17 years before opening his own ‘dream’ club, Millers Swim Gym, in 1972. His club included his ‘dream’ pool, the first 50 meter competitive pool in Little Rock. Competitively, Jim swam for the Little Rock Boys’ Club team while in high school, and later at Northwestern State College in Louisiana. But his greatest accomplishment for swimming was in the development and training of young swimmers. Many of his swimmers were regionally and nationally ranked, many continued in College swimming. Jimmy challenged swimmers to stay in the program and to earn a College Scholarship for swimming. He died suddenly in 1973 returning home from the finals of a MSG Invitation swim meet.
