Pat Riley was an age group swimmer for the YMCA and LRRC from 1962-1973. During that time he held numerous state records. He was selected as the LRRS Male Swimmer of the Year three times and in 1973 was selected at the State of Arkansas High School Swimmer of the year. Also, in 1973, as captain of the LRRC them they one their first Region VIII championship. He had a first, second, and two thirds in that meet. Pat later swam and lettered for four years at SMU. While he was as SMU m they won the SWC four times and he qualified for the NCAA all four years. In 1974 he placed fourth in the SWC meet and swam a 1:56 in the 200 fly, the first stub two minute fly in Arkansas history. Pat was also captain of the water polo team at SMU. In 1986, he finished fourth in the UC Masters, 30-34 age group, in the 200 fly at 2:02.2
