Sammy Turner
Sammy Turner was an age group, high school, and college swimmer in Little Rock from 1957-1973. He was a member of Jimmy Miller’s National record setting relay teams, four, as a 10&U. He was ranked in the top five nationally in the fly and breaststroke as a 10&U. He held many state records as a teenage and in 1966 was the first Junior High athlete to win the Outstanding High School Athlete Award. In that year and again in 1976 he was All-State High School swimmer and in 1970 won the Boys Club Boy of the Year Award. At UALR, he set five varsity and pool records, and in 1973 swam in the NAIA National meet. He also played water polo at UALR
